Summary

This 2005 Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren is a remarkable collector's piece with just 4,000 km, presenting a rare investment opportunity in the GCC market. Its iconic Silver exterior remains the most sought-after color for resale in the region, perfectly complementing the carbon-fiber bodywork that defines this F1-inspired collaboration. As a joint project between Mercedes-Benz and McLaren, this supercar occupies a unique segment that bridges grand touring luxury with raw, high-speed performance. For the discerning buyer in the UAE or Saudi Arabia, the primary draw is its incredibly low mileage and status as a blue-chip automotive asset. This listing represents one of the best-preserved examples of a legendary era in automotive history.

This Car vs Other 2005 SLR McLarens

With only 4,000 km on the odometer, this example stands significantly below the average usage seen in the GCC market for supercars of this vintage, where annual mileage typically exceeds 20,000 km. Its preservation makes it a high-tier collector's entry compared to higher-mileage regional examples. The classic Silver finish is historically the strongest resale color for this model in the Gulf, ensuring long-term value retention.

STANDARD vs Lower Trims

The SLR McLaren was produced as a pinnacle flagship, meaning it already includes top-tier features like the Sensotronic Brake Control (SBC) and a speed-sensitive active rear airbrake. The interior is finished in high-grade leather with carbon-fiber bucket seats, features that are highly prized by GCC enthusiasts for both aesthetic and weight-saving purposes. This standard configuration provides the pure, original vision of the Mercedes-McLaren collaboration.

SLR McLaren vs Segment Rivals

When compared to rivals like the Porsche Carrera GT or Ferrari Enzo, the SLR offers a more refined grand touring experience suitable for the long, well-maintained highways connecting Abu Dhabi and Dubai. Its supercharged V8 provides immense low-end torque that makes it more usable in regional traffic than its high-revving naturally aspirated competitors. Furthermore, its front-mid-engine layout offers more practical cargo space for weekend trips between emirates.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption averages 14.5 L/100km combined, though figures will increase in stop-start city traffic in major GCC hubs. Authorized Mercedes-Benz service centers are readily available across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait, though this specific model requires specialist technicians familiar with its carbon-ceramic braking system and SLR-specific maintenance protocols. As a Japanese spec vehicle, parts are generally compatible with regional supply chains, though buyers should note that resale is driven primarily by its global collectibility status.

Performance & Capability

The SLR McLaren delivers a blistering 0–100 km/h time of 3.8 seconds, powered by a hand-built AMG supercharged V8 producing 626 hp. Its top speed of 334 km/h allows for effortless highway cruising, while the carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic (CFRP) chassis provides exceptional rigidity for high-speed stability. The 5-speed SpeedShift R transmission is tuned to handle the massive 780 Nm of torque, ensuring immediate response during overtaking on fast-moving UAE motorways.

Comfort & Cabin

Inside, the two-seat cockpit is a blend of racing technology and Mercedes-Benz luxury, featuring custom-sized carbon-fiber seats tailored for support. The air conditioning system is robust, essential for maintaining a comfortable cabin temperature during the extreme heat of the Gulf summer. The gull-wing doors provide a dramatic entry and exit, while the high-quality Bose sound system offers premium audio for long-distance drives across the region.

Safety

Safety is paramount with the world's first series-produced carbon-fiber front crash structure, designed for superior energy absorption. Standard equipment includes adaptive front airbags, knee bags, and side bags, providing a comprehensive safety suite for both occupants. The active airbrake system automatically deploys to increase downforce and improve braking stability during high-speed deceleration on highway stretches.

The bottom line

For the serious GCC collector, this ultra-low-mileage SLR McLaren is a rare chance to own a piece of automotive history that is both a thrilling drive and a stable financial asset.
