Summary

This Porsche 911 Targa 4S represents a rare opportunity to own a highly sought-after 997.1 generation in the GCC market. With its distinctive sliding glass roof and silver finish, it offers the perfect middle ground between the rigidity of a coupe and the open-air freedom of a cabriolet. The Targa 4S was produced in limited numbers compared to the standard Carrera, making it a stronger prospect for long-term value retention. For the GCC owner, the wide-body design and all-wheel-drive system provide exceptional high-speed stability on highways connecting the Emirates.

This Car vs Other 2007 911s

At 126,000 km, this vehicle sits below the typical 180,000+ km range often seen on 2007 models in the UAE. The Silver exterior is one of the most resilient colors for the GCC climate, effectively hiding dust and maintaining higher resale interest than brighter shades. Its GCC-spec status ensures the cooling system and AC are factory-tuned for regional heat, a critical advantage over imported American or European units.

TARGA 4S vs Lower Trims

The Targa 4S adds a more powerful 3.8L engine over the 3.6L found in the standard Targa 4, providing a significant boost in torque for better highway overtaking. It also features the wider rear bodywork shared with the Turbo models and includes Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) as standard. The S trim further upgrades the interior with more extensive leather surfaces and larger 19-inch wheels.

911 vs Segment Rivals

When compared to the Maserati GranTurismo or Aston Martin V8 Vantage of the same era, the 911 Targa 4S leads with its unique glass-hatch practicality, allowing easy access to the rear storage area. Its all-wheel-drive system offers superior grip on sand-dusted roads compared to the rear-drive Maserati. The Porsche also benefits from a much more robust specialized service network across Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Riyadh.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption averages approximately 11.9 L/100km, which is efficient for a high-performance flat-six engine. The 997 generation is currently seeing a stabilization in value within the GCC, with Targa models often commanding a premium due to their lower production volumes. Routine service intervals are typically every 15,000 km, and authorized Porsche Centers across the UAE and Saudi Arabia ensure excellent parts availability.

Performance & Capability

The 3.8-litre flat-six delivers 355 hp, propelling the car to a top speed of 280 km/h. The Tiptronic S automatic transmission provides smooth shifts for city commuting in Dubai while allowing manual control via steering wheel buttons for spirited drives. The all-wheel-drive system ensures maximum traction during sudden rain or on high-speed desert highway curves, providing a level of confidence rare in the sports car segment.

Comfort & Cabin

The 2+2 seating layout is complemented by the unique Targa glass roof that floods the cabin with light without the wind noise of a soft-top. The air conditioning system is specifically designed for high-ambient temperatures, ensuring rapid cooling even after the car has been parked in the sun. Rear storage is surprisingly practical thanks to the opening rear glass hatch, making it suitable for weekend trips between Emirates.

Safety

Standard safety features include Porsche Stability Management (PSM) and an advanced airbag system. The all-wheel-drive system acts as a primary safety feature in the GCC, providing extra stability during high-speed highway driving and improved braking performance. Bi-Xenon headlights come standard, providing excellent visibility for night drives on unlit desert roads.

The bottom line

This GCC-spec 997.1 Targa 4S is a sophisticated choice for the enthusiast who wants everyday usability paired with the iconic 911 silhouette. Its lower-than-average mileage and regional specification make it one of the most sensible performance investments currently available in the market.
