Summary

This 2008 Jaguar XKR is a standout example of the X150 generation, offering a rare combination of supercharged V8 power and a timeless all-aluminum grand touring design. With mileage that reflects a well-enjoyed but carefully maintained life on GCC roads, it remains a highly desirable performance coupe for the region. The black-on-black color scheme is a perennially strong choice for resale in the local market, ensuring sustained interest from future buyers. Compared to contemporary rivals, this Jaguar offers a more refined, 'gentleman’s express' character that excels during long-distance drives across the Emirates. For any GCC buyer, the aluminum construction is a major advantage, providing excellent resistance to the local humidity while keeping the handling sharp.

This Car vs Other 2008 XKRs

At 146,981 km, this XKR has been driven approximately 9,000 km per year, which is significantly lower than the GCC annual average of 20,000 km. While the mileage is higher than a garage queen, it represents an honest, mechanically active history common for reliable daily-driven GTs in the UAE. The black exterior is the most sought-after color for this model in the local used market, typically commanding a quicker sale than lighter shades.

STANDARD vs Lower Trims

Stepping up to the XKR over the standard XK adds the critical Eaton supercharger, which brings a 120 hp increase and the signature V8 whine. This trim also standardizes the Computer Active Technology Suspension (CATS), providing the adaptive damping necessary for UAE highway stability. You also gain larger performance brakes and quad-exhaust outlets, features that are highly valued by GCC enthusiasts for both aesthetics and cooling efficiency.

XKR vs Segment Rivals

The XKR leads the Maserati GranTurismo and BMW 650i in terms of lightweight engineering thanks to its all-aluminum monocoque, making it more agile through corners. Its 4.2-litre supercharged engine is renowned for low-end torque, offering effortless overtaking power on the E11 compared to the higher-revving Italian alternatives. Additionally, the Jaguar’s air conditioning system is widely considered more robust for the 45°C+ summer heat than its European competitors.

Running Costs & Resale

Expect a combined fuel consumption of approximately 12.3 L/100km, though stop-start traffic in Dubai or Riyadh may see this rise toward 16 L/100km. Service intervals are recommended every 12,000 km to ensure the supercharger and cooling systems remain healthy in the desert climate. The XKR holds its value better than the standard XK in the GCC, with an annual depreciation rate of roughly 12-15%, making it a relatively stable asset for a high-performance luxury car.

Performance & Capability

With a 0–100 km/h time of 5.2 seconds, the XKR delivers blistering acceleration that remains competitive even by modern standards. The 6-speed ZF automatic transmission is tuned for smooth, rapid shifts, perfect for both city cruising and high-speed transit between emirates. The supercharged V8 produces 560 Nm of torque, ensuring you have immediate power available for highway merging or overtaking at any speed.

Comfort & Cabin

The 2+2 cabin is trimmed in premium leather with dual-zone climate control designed to combat the intense GCC sun. Standard features include heated 16-way power-adjustable seats and a Bowers & Wilkins premium audio system that provides exceptional clarity over road noise. Despite its sports car silhouette, the coupe offers a 313-litre boot, which is genuinely practical for weekend trips to Al Ain or Fujairah.

Safety

This XKR is equipped with a comprehensive safety suite including Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) and Traction Control, which are vital for maintaining grip on sandy or rain-slicked road surfaces. It features a reinforced aluminum safety cell and multiple airbags, including side-impact protection. The standard front and rear parking sensors are essential for navigating tight parking spaces in major GCC urban centers.

The bottom line

This Jaguar XKR is the ideal choice for an enthusiast seeking a powerful, GCC-spec grand tourer that combines classic British elegance with reliable supercharged performance. It offers a unique opportunity to own a modern classic that is as comfortable on a daily commute as it is on a cross-country journey.
