Summary

This 2009 Porsche 911 Carrera 4 represents the highly desirable 997.2 generation, featuring the updated DFI engine that eliminated earlier mechanical concerns. With its all-wheel-drive system and wider body styling, it offers a more planted and aggressive stance than the standard Carrera. The Grey exterior is a versatile, high-demand choice in the GCC market, ensuring strong resale interest and excellent heat reflection compared to darker tones. Having covered just over 83,000 km, this example sits well below the average mileage for its age in the region, making it a standout pick for enthusiasts. It strikes the perfect balance between daily usability and the raw, mechanical feedback that defines the 997 series.

This Car vs Other 2009 911s

At roughly 83,900 km, this Carrera 4 has been driven significantly less than the typical 20,000 km annual average seen in the GCC, equating to roughly 5,500 km per year. While many 2009 models have surpassed the 150,000 km mark, this unit retains the mechanical tightness and interior freshness sought by collectors. The GCC specification ensures the cooling system and air conditioning are optimized for extreme local temperatures.

CARRERA 4 vs Lower Trims

The Carrera 4 adds the sophisticated Porsche Traction Management (PTM) all-wheel-drive system, providing superior grip during high-speed highway maneuvers and rare wet weather. Visually, this trim is distinguished by a 44mm wider rear body and a connecting reflective strip between the taillights, a signature cue that GCC buyers often pay a premium for. It also features silver-painted brake calipers and a more robust stance than the rear-wheel-drive base model.

911 vs Segment Rivals

Compared to the Maserati GranTurismo and Audi R8 of the same era, the 911 offers unmatched daily practicality with a usable front trunk and 2+2 seating configuration. Its flat-six engine provides a lower center of gravity, resulting in superior handling balance on the winding roads of Jebel Jais or Jebel Hafeet. Furthermore, the 911’s reputation for reliability in high-heat environments gives it a distinct edge over its Italian and British counterparts.

Running Costs & Resale

The 997.2 generation is renowned for its value retention in the GCC, often plateauing in price as it transitions into a modern classic. Real-world fuel consumption averages around 9.8 L/100km on combined cycles, though city driving in heavy traffic will see this increase. Maintenance is supported by an extensive network of Porsche centers and specialists across the UAE and Saudi Arabia, with major service intervals typically occurring every 30,000 km or two years.

Performance & Capability

Powered by a 3.6-litre flat-six producing 345 hp, this Carrera 4 reaches a top speed of 284 km/h. The 7-speed PDK transmission offers lightning-fast shifts that are a massive leap forward from the older Tiptronic systems, providing both track-ready response and smooth city cruising. The electronically controlled all-wheel-drive system can send up to 100% of torque to the front wheels if needed, ensuring maximum stability at all times.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin features a driver-centric layout with high-quality materials designed to withstand the GCC sun without premature fading. Dual-zone automatic climate control is standard, providing powerful cooling that quickly brings the temperature down even after the car has been parked outside. While primarily a two-seater, the rear seats provide essential extra storage or space for children, making it surprisingly practical for a sports coupe.

Safety

Standard safety equipment includes Porsche Stability Management (PSM), which works in tandem with the all-wheel-drive system to prevent skidding on sand-dusted roads. The car is equipped with six airbags, including side impact protection, and features powerful ventilated disc brakes with ABS and Brake Assist. For night driving on long desert highways, the Bi-Xenon headlights provide exceptional clarity and range.

The bottom line

This is a rare opportunity to own a low-mileage, GCC-spec 997.2 Carrera 4 that offers the perfect entry point into high-end Porsche ownership with minimal depreciation risk.
