Summary

This 2009 Porsche 911 Carrera 4 represents the highly sought-after 997.2 generation, featuring the more reliable direct-injection engine and a modernized cabin. With 83,899 km over 17 years, its mileage is exceptionally low for the GCC, where 20,000 km annually is the norm. The grey exterior remains a high-demand, resale-stable color in the local market, offering a sophisticated look that handles the regional sun better than darker tones. As a GCC-spec model, it is perfectly adapted for the heat, featuring the robust cooling systems required for local driving conditions. This is a rare opportunity to own a mechanically updated 997 that balances daily usability with iconic sports car dynamics.

This Car vs Other 2009 911s

While many 2009 models in the GCC have surpassed the 200,000 km mark due to frequent inter-emirate highway travel, this example has covered less than 5,000 km per year. Its grey finish is among the top three resale colors in the region, ensuring it remains attractive to future buyers. The low mileage combined with the 997.2's improved mechanical reliability makes this a standout choice for enthusiasts.

CARRERA 4 vs Lower Trims

The Carrera 4 adds the Porsche Traction Management (PTM) all-wheel-drive system, which was significantly upgraded for the 2009 model year to the electronic system previously reserved for the Turbo. Visually, this trim features the iconic wide-body rear, measuring 44 mm wider than the standard Carrera, and includes a distinctive full-width rear reflector strip. Inside, the 997.2 update introduced the PCM 3.0 touchscreen interface with Bluetooth as standard, a major leap over the previous generation.

911 vs Segment Rivals

Compared to the Audi R8 or Maserati GranTurismo of the same era, the 911 offers superior daily practicality and a more compact footprint that excels in city traffic. Its flat-six engine configuration provides a lower center of gravity than the V8 rivals, resulting in the surgical handling the 911 is famous for. Additionally, Porsche's air conditioning systems are widely regarded as being better suited to the extreme GCC summer than those found in many Italian competitors.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the 3.6L direct-injection engine typically averages around 10.5 L/100km on GCC highways, though city traffic will see this increase. Service intervals are generally every 15,000 km or annually, with a strong network of authorized Porsche Centers and specialized independent garages across the UAE and wider GCC. The 997.2 generation has shown excellent value retention in the local market, often depreciating at a slower rate than newer 991 models due to its status as a modern classic.

Performance & Capability

Equipped with the 345 hp flat-six and all-wheel drive, this Carrera 4 reaches 100 km/h in just 4.7 seconds and continues to a top speed of 284 km/h. The PTM system provides immense confidence during the rare rainy days or on sandy patches often found on regional highways. The automatic transmission paired with the rear-biased AWD system ensures that power is delivered smoothly, whether you are navigating a fast highway cloverleaf or commuting through Dubai's Financial Centre.

Comfort & Cabin

The 2+2 seating layout provides a surprisingly practical cabin for a sports coupe, with the rear seats serving as excellent extra luggage space. The 2009 update brought a much-improved touchscreen infotainment system that remains functional and intuitive for modern users. High-quality GCC-spec insulation helps keep the cabin cool during July peaks, while the classic analog gauges maintain the timeless driver-focused feel of the 911 lineage.

Safety

Standard safety features on this trim include Porsche Stability Management (PSM), which works in tandem with the all-wheel-drive system to maintain traction in all conditions. The car is equipped with six airbags, including the Porsche Side Impact Protection System (POSIP). For high-speed highway driving, the standard Bi-Xenon headlights and LED daytime running lights provide excellent visibility and a modern road presence.

The bottom line

This is the ideal choice for a GCC collector or driver looking for the mechanical purity of a naturally aspirated 911 with the peace of mind provided by very low mileage and GCC regional specifications.
