Summary

This Toyota Land Cruiser GXR is a standout find in the GCC market, combining legendary reliability with a mileage of 169,000 km that is significantly below the regional average for its age. The silver exterior is one of the most practical and sought-after colors for resale in the Middle East, offering excellent heat reflection and long-term durability. As a GXR trim, it provides the ideal balance of off-road hardware and essential family comforts, making it a versatile choice for both city commuting and desert adventures. For any buyer in the region, the peace of mind provided by Toyota's vast service network and the model's exceptional value retention makes this a highly strategic purchase.

This Car vs Other 2009 Land Cruisers

With only 169,000 km on the odometer, this vehicle has been driven roughly 11,000 km per year, which is exceptionally low compared to the GCC annual average of 25,000 km. While many 2009 models in the region have exceeded the 300,000 km mark, this example offers a significantly fresher mechanical profile. The silver finish further enhances its appeal, as it remains a top-tier resale color in the local used market due to its ability to hide dust and withstand the intense summer sun.

GXR vs Lower Trims

The GXR trim offers significant upgrades over the base GX, including a more refined interior with wood-grain accents and enhanced electronic features that GCC buyers prioritize. It typically adds essential comforts such as a sunroof, integrated cool box for the summer heat, and a more advanced audio system. Mechanically, the GXR retains the heavy-duty 4WD hardware while providing a more passenger-oriented experience suitable for family use.

Land Cruiser vs Segment Rivals

The Land Cruiser GXR is frequently cross-shopped with the Nissan Patrol and the Mitsubishi Pajero. It leads the segment in long-term durability and has a larger fuel capacity, making it the preferred choice for long-distance desert crossings or cross-border travel. While rivals may offer different tech packages, the Land Cruiser’s body-on-frame construction and massive regional parts availability give it a distinct edge in ownership longevity.

Running Costs & Resale

Ownership costs are remarkably predictable thanks to 5,000 km service intervals and the most extensive authorized service network in the GCC. The 4.0L V6 engine is designed to run efficiently on 95-octane petrol, common across UAE and Saudi gas stations. In terms of depreciation, the Land Cruiser 200 series holds its value better than almost any other vehicle in the region, typically losing only 8-10% annually compared to the 15%+ seen in European luxury SUVs.

Performance & Capability

Powered by a robust V6 engine, this Land Cruiser delivers 240 hp and 376 Nm of torque, providing reliable power for highway overtaking and sand dune climbing. Its primary strength lies in its specialized 4WD system, featuring a low-range transfer case and a center locking differential for genuine off-road capability. With 225 mm of ground clearance, it is purpose-built to handle the varied terrain of the Emirates, from rocky wadis to soft desert dunes.

Comfort & Cabin

The seven-seat cabin is designed for family utility, featuring high-output air conditioning with dedicated rear vents to combat 45°C summer temperatures. The interior layout is spacious, offering a genuinely usable third row and a cooled center console to keep beverages chilled during long drives. Sound insulation is optimized for high-speed highway cruising, ensuring a quiet environment even when traveling between emirates.

Safety

Safety is managed by a suite of systems including dual front airbags, Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), and Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD). The heavy-duty body-on-frame construction provides a rigid safety cell, while standard stability control helps maintain traction on loose sand and gravel surfaces common in GCC driving conditions.

The bottom line

This Land Cruiser is the perfect match for a family or enthusiast looking for a high-durability 4x4 with verified low mileage and excellent resale potential in the local market.
