Summary

This 2009 Toyota Yaris Hatchback is a reliable choice for city commuting, offering exceptional fuel efficiency and a compact footprint that makes parking effortless. Finished in white, a top-tier color for heat reflection and resale value in the GCC, it represents a practical entry point into vehicle ownership. The 1.5L engine provides a more responsive driving experience than the smaller 1.3L variants often found in the market. As a GCC-spec vehicle, it is built to handle the region's intense summer heat with a cooling system designed for local conditions. Toyota's reputation for mechanical simplicity ensures that this Yaris remains a low-cost, high-dependability workhorse for years to come.

This Car vs Other 2009 Yariss

With 195,000 km, this Yaris reflects typical GCC usage of approximately 13,000 km per year, which is well below the regional average of 20,000 km. Its white exterior is the most sought-after color in the local used market, ensuring faster resale and better heat management during summer months. Unlike many imported examples, this GCC-spec car maintains its value through local service compatibility.

BASE vs Lower Trims

This 1.5L BASE trim offers a significant power advantage over the 1.3L entry-level models, providing 103 hp which is essential for merging safely onto fast-moving highways like Sheikh Zayed Road. While focused on utility, it retains standard essentials like ABS and dual front airbags that were often omitted in basic regional competitors of the same era. The five-door configuration adds a layer of daily practicality over the three-door variants.

Yaris vs Segment Rivals

Compared to the Honda City or Nissan Tiida of the same generation, the Yaris leads in tight-space maneuverability thanks to its class-leading 9.4-meter turning circle. While rivals may offer slightly more interior room, the Yaris dominates in long-term parts availability and the sheer density of authorized service centers across the UAE and Saudi Arabia. Its 42-liter fuel tank, combined with high efficiency, allows for impressive range on cross-emirate trips.

Running Costs & Resale

The Yaris is famous for its minimal running costs, with a real-world combined fuel consumption of roughly 6.5 L/100km. Service intervals are typically set every 5,000 to 10,000 km, and the mechanical simplicity of the 1.5L VVTi engine keeps maintenance affordable at both dealers and independent garages. In the GCC, the Yaris experiences one of the lowest annual depreciation rates in the sub-compact segment, often retaining value better than its American or European rivals.

Performance & Capability

Equipped with a 1.5L 4-cylinder engine producing 103 hp, this Yaris offers a perky and responsive drive suited for stop-start city traffic. The 4-speed automatic transmission is tuned for reliability rather than speed, providing smooth shifts during daily commutes. It remains composed at highway speeds, though its true strength lies in navigating narrow urban streets where its light steering and compact dimensions shine.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin features a unique center-mounted instrument cluster that improves forward visibility, a hallmark of this generation. Despite its small exterior, the interior is cleverly packaged to offer comfortable seating for five and a surprisingly spacious boot of approximately 275 liters with the seats up. The air conditioning system is specifically engineered for the Gulf, delivering rapid cooling even when ambient temperatures exceed 45°C.

Safety

Safety is managed by Toyota’s Star Safety System of the era, which includes Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD), and Brake Assist as standard. The vehicle is equipped with dual front SRS airbags and energy-absorbing crumple zones designed to protect occupants. Its GCC-spec status ensures the cooling and filtration systems are robust enough to maintain safe operating temperatures in extreme desert heat.

The bottom line

This GCC-spec Yaris is the ideal choice for a budget-conscious buyer looking for a reliable, fuel-efficient daily driver with the best possible resale prospects in the Middle East.
