Summary

This 2013 BMW 640i Gran Coupe is a sophisticated alternative to traditional executive sedans, blending the silhouette of a coupe with four-door practicality. As a Prestige M Sport trim, it features enhanced aerodynamics and a driver-focused cabin that remains highly competitive in the GCC market. Its Black-on-Black color combination is a perennial favorite for resale in the region, offering a timeless look that masks its age well. For the Dubai or Riyadh commuter, the silky-smooth inline-six engine provides a perfect balance of highway cruising power and relative efficiency compared to the V8 alternatives. This GCC-spec example is well-suited for high-speed inter-emirate travel, maintaining exceptional stability and cabin insulation.

This Car vs Other 2013 640is

With 167,500 km, this vehicle has been driven approximately 14,000 km per year, which is significantly lower than the GCC average of 20,000–25,000 km for executive tourers. The Black exterior is highly sought after in the secondary market, ensuring it retains a premium appearance. This usage profile suggests a car that has likely served as a primary highway commuter rather than a heavily used city workhorse.

PRESTIGE M SPORT vs Lower Trims

The Prestige M Sport trim elevates the Gran Coupe with the M Aerodynamics package, M double-spoke alloy wheels, and an M leather steering wheel with paddle shifters. Unlike the base models, this trim often includes the high-resolution 10.2-inch iDrive display and the premium HiFi audio system as standard. These features are critical for GCC buyers who value both the aggressive aesthetic and the upgraded cabin technology for long-distance comfort.

640i Gran Coupe vs Segment Rivals

The 640i Gran Coupe competes directly with the Mercedes-Benz CLS and Audi A7, standing out for its lower, wider stance and more driver-centric chassis tuning. It offers a larger 70-liter fuel tank than some rivals, facilitating longer ranges between stops on desert highways. While the A7 emphasizes all-wheel drive, this rear-wheel-drive BMW focuses on pure steering feel and the classic balance of a front-engine, rear-drive layout.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the N55 3.0L engine typically averages 7.8L/100km on highways and roughly 11L/100km in GCC stop-start traffic. As a GCC-spec BMW, it benefits from the extensive AGMC and Abu Dhabi Motors service network in the UAE, as well as Naghi Motors in KSA. While European luxury sedans typically see 12-18% annual depreciation, the M Sport trim helps this model retain value better than non-M models due to high demand for the sportier aesthetic.

Performance & Capability

The 320 hp TwinPower Turbo engine delivers a smooth 450 Nm of torque starting from just 1,300 rpm, allowing for effortless overtaking on the E11 or Sheikh Zayed Road. It reaches a limited top speed of 250 km/h with the ZF 8-speed automatic transmission providing seamless shifts. The '4+1' seating configuration maintains the car's sporty character while offering enough space for family trips or executive transport.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is designed for the high-temperature GCC climate, featuring a high-performance multi-zone climate control system and high-quality Dakota or Nappa leather. The driver sits low in the cockpit, surrounded by wood or aluminum accents and a 10.2-inch screen with integrated navigation. Soft-close doors and a sunroof are common additions that enhance the premium feel during evening drives across the city.

Safety

Standard safety features include a comprehensive suite of front, side, and curtain airbags, along with stability and traction control systems optimized for high-speed stability. The car features adaptive Xenon or LED headlights for superior visibility during night drives on unlit desert roads. Front and rear parking sensors with a rearview camera assist in maneuvering this 5-meter-long sedan into tight mall parking spaces.

The bottom line

This 640i Gran Coupe is the ideal choice for an enthusiast who needs four doors but refuses to drive a standard sedan, offering a well-maintained, GCC-spec package with the desirable M Sport look.
