Summary

This 2013 Ford F-150 XLT is a quintessential GCC workhorse, combining a reliable 5.0L V8 with the spacious Crew Cab configuration. The Chrome Pack adds a polished finish that maintains strong visual appeal in the local market, while the American spec offers a high equipment level often preferred by enthusiasts. Its blue exterior is a versatile choice that holds up well against the sun compared to darker shades, and the mileage is remarkably consistent with the high-utilization nature of pickups in this region. As a body-on-frame truck, it provides the mechanical simplicity and durability required for both heavy-duty work and weekend desert excursions. For a buyer seeking a proven, naturally aspirated V8 platform without the complexity of modern turbocharged systems, this remains a standout choice.

This Car vs Other 2013 F-150s

At 170,000 km, this truck sits comfortably within the expected mileage for a decade-old pickup in the GCC, where highway-heavy use is standard. The 5.0L V8 variant is highly sought after in the used market for its longevity compared to the early EcoBoost V6 alternatives of the same year. While many older F-150s in the region are base XL trims, this XLT Chrome Pack example offers a more premium look and better resale retention.

XLT CREW CAB CHROME PACK vs Lower Trims

The XLT trim significantly upgrades the ownership experience over the base XL, adding power-adjustable seating, the SYNC connectivity system, and cruise control. The Chrome Pack specifically adds chrome bumpers, a bright grille surround, and 18-inch chrome-clad wheels that provide a more executive road presence. Crucially for GCC buyers, the XLT includes upgraded cabin materials and additional storage solutions not found in the work-focused lower tiers.

F-150 vs Segment Rivals

Compared to the Chevrolet Silverado and RAM 1500 of the same era, the F-150 leads with its massive 136-litre available fuel tank, making it superior for long-distance desert crossings or trips across borders. The Ford's aluminum-intensive architecture (in later years) was pioneered by the structural rigidity of this 2013 steel-frame model, which many local workshops find easier to maintain than rivals. Its Coyote V8 engine is also widely regarded as having better parts availability across the UAE and Saudi Arabia.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the 5.0L V8 typically averages 13.8 L/100km on the highway, though city driving in stop-start Dubai traffic will see this rise to roughly 16.5 L/100km. Service intervals are recommended every 10,000 km in the GCC due to extreme heat and dust, with an extensive network of authorized centers and independent Ford specialists available across all emirates. As an American spec vehicle, it has already undergone its steepest depreciation, offering excellent value retention for the next owner compared to newer, more expensive models.

Performance & Capability

The 360 hp Coyote V8 delivers linear power that is perfect for highway overtaking and sand driving, where predictable torque is vital. With a maximum braked towing capacity of 4,309 kg, it easily handles large boat trailers or car transporters common in the region. The All-Wheel Drive system provides essential grip for loose gravel and wet roads, while the 231 mm of ground clearance ensures confidence during weekend off-road trips.

Comfort & Cabin

The Crew Cab provides a genuinely massive second row with a flat load floor, easily accommodating three adults or providing secure interior cargo space. Ford’s air conditioning systems from this era are noted for their high output, essential for maintaining cabin temperatures during peak summer months. The Chrome Pack interior features upgraded cloth seating that remains cooler to the touch than leather when parked in the sun, a major benefit for GCC drivers.

Safety

This F-150 comes standard with AdvanceTrac and Roll Stability Control, providing a critical safety net for high-profile vehicles on windy desert highways. It features a comprehensive airbag suite including front-seat side and side-curtain airbags, earning a 4-star overall rating from the NHTSA. The inclusion of trailer sway control is a significant advantage for those using the truck for its intended purpose, ensuring stability even in challenging crosswinds.

The bottom line

This F-150 is the ideal entry point for a buyer wanting a V8 American pickup that is mechanically honest and ready for both daily UAE commutes and weekend adventures. Its combination of a long-range tank and the proven 5.0L engine makes it a reliable long-term investment in the GCC used market.
