Summary

This 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 offers a visceral driving experience that is increasingly rare, powered by the iconic naturally aspirated 6.4-litre HEMI V8. Despite its performance credentials, it remains a highly practical SUV with a generous towing capacity and a spacious cabin for five. Finished in White—the most desirable resale color for the UAE market—it presents a classic look that handles the region's intense sunlight better than darker shades. For the GCC buyer, this SRT8 represents a unique opportunity to own a high-output American icon that bridges the gap between a family workhorse and a dedicated track-capable machine.

This Car vs Other 2014 Grand Cherokees

With 225,000 km, this vehicle reflects the higher annual mileage common for long-distance highway commutes between emirates. While the mileage is higher than the average used SUV, these HEMI engines are renowned for their highway durability when maintained. The White exterior is a significant advantage for local resale, as it is the most sought-after color in the GCC used market.

SRT8 vs Lower Trims

The SRT8 sits atop the range, replacing the standard 4WD system with a performance-tuned on-demand All-Wheel Drive setup and Bilstein adaptive dampers. Unlike the Summit or Overland trims, the SRT8 features high-performance Brembo brakes, launch control, and a dedicated Track mode that alters torque distribution. Inside, you gain aggressive sport seats with suede inserts and carbon fiber trim that are not available on lower specifications.

Grand Cherokee vs Segment Rivals

The SRT8 competes directly with the BMW X5 M and Mercedes-AMG ML 63, offering similar straight-line performance with a more robust, naturally aspirated powertrain. It leads the segment in terms of value-for-performance, providing a 93-litre fuel tank that is ideal for long-distance cross-border drives across the GCC. Its mechanical simplicity compared to European turbocharged rivals often translates to more predictable long-term maintenance in high-heat environments.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption typically averages 14.0L/100km, though this can rise significantly in heavy GCC city traffic. As an American spec vehicle, buyers should ensure the cooling system has been inspected for local high-temperature performance, though parts availability through Jeep's extensive UAE network remains strong. The SRT8 trim historically retains its value better than standard trims due to its enthusiast following in the region.

Performance & Capability

The 465 hp V8 engine allows this 2.3-tonne SUV to reach 100 km/h in just 4.8 seconds, making it one of the fastest naturally aspirated SUVs ever produced. The 8-speed automatic transmission is tuned for rapid shifts, while the Selec-Track system allows the driver to send up to 70% of torque to the rear wheels for a more spirited drive. Despite its lowered, sport-tuned suspension, it maintains a respectable 203 mm of ground clearance for navigating gravel paths and suburban terrain.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is tailored for the GCC climate, featuring ventilated front seats and a powerful dual-zone climate control system. Standard equipment includes the 8.4-inch Uconnect infotainment system and a premium audio setup, providing a high-tech environment for long highway stretches. The acoustic glass helps isolate the cabin from wind noise during high-speed cruising between cities like Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

Safety

This SRT8 comes equipped with a comprehensive safety suite including electronic stability control with roll mitigation and high-performance Brembo ABS brakes for superior stopping power. Standard active features useful for UAE highways include blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-path detection. The reinforced chassis and multi-stage airbags provide robust protection for all five occupants.

The bottom line

For the enthusiast who needs a family-sized SUV without sacrificing supercar-rivalling acceleration, this White SRT8 is a high-impact choice that remains a staple of the UAE's performance car culture.
