Toyota Land Cruiser GXR V6

Highlights

• 138-litre total fuel tank capacity
• Selectable Crawl Control system standard
• Strong value retention in the GCC used market

Summary

This Land Cruiser GXR is a definitive choice for GCC buyers seeking the legendary durability of the 200 Series paired with the practical 4.0L V6 engine. With 191,000 km, the mileage is well within the expected range for a decade-old cruiser in this region, where these engines are known to cross the 500,000 km mark with ease. The white exterior is the most sought-after color for resale in the UAE and Saudi Arabia, effectively reflecting the desert sun to keep cabin temperatures manageable. As a GCC-spec model, it features the crucial dual-tank system and reinforced cooling required for cross-border trips and summer heat. It remains the gold standard for anyone needing a reliable eight-seater that can transition from city school runs to weekend desert expeditions without hesitation.

This Car vs Other 2014 Land Cruisers

At 191,000 km, this vehicle has averaged roughly 19,000 km per year, which is notably lower than the GCC average of 25,000 km for large SUVs. The white exterior is a strategic choice for the local market, offering the highest heat rejection and the strongest resale liquidity. While many LCs of this vintage have been heavily modified for off-roading, this example maintains the original factory spec preferred by long-term collectors.

GXR vs Lower Trims

The GXR trim provides a significant step up from the base EXR, most notably adding a factory-fitted refrigerator in the center console and a power-adjustable driver’s seat. It also upgrades the cabin with a superior 10-inch infotainment display and enhances the exterior with 18-inch alloy wheels and integrated side steps. For GCC families, the inclusion of the rear scuff plate and floor illumination adds a level of daily practicality not found in the utility-focused lower trims.

Land Cruiser vs Segment Rivals

Compared to the Nissan Patrol Y62, the Land Cruiser offers superior long-term reliability and a more extensive network of specialized mechanics across all seven Emirates and the wider GCC. While the Chevrolet Tahoe provides more interior volume, the Land Cruiser leads the segment with its specialized off-road hardware, including a genuine low-range transfer case and Crawl Control. Its 138-litre fuel capacity significantly outranges rivals on long desert highway stretches between Abu Dhabi and Riyadh.

Running Costs & Resale

The 4.0L V6 engine is highly compatible with local fuel grades and offers better fuel economy in stop-start city traffic compared to the larger V8 variants. Toyota’s authorized service network is the most comprehensive in the region, ensuring parts availability in even the most remote areas. Historically, the Land Cruiser 200 Series holds approximately 55% of its value even after seven years, a retention rate that consistently leads the large SUV segment in the UAE market.

Performance & Capability

The 271 hp V6 engine provides reliable power delivery, capable of reaching a top speed of 200 km/h with high-speed stability. Its body-on-frame construction is paired with a full-time 4WD system and a 5.9-meter turning radius, making it surprisingly maneuverable for a vehicle of its size. The 230 mm ground clearance and standard Crawl Control allow it to navigate soft sand and steep dunes that would stop most modern crossovers.

Comfort & Cabin

The eight-seat layout is configured with ample legroom for the second row and a versatile third row that folds away to maximize cargo space. The GCC-specific air conditioning system features dedicated rear vents for all three rows, ensuring rapid cooling even when ambient temperatures exceed 45°C. High-quality cabin insulation and acoustic glass minimize wind noise during high-speed highway cruising between emirates.

Safety

Safety is managed by a comprehensive suite of SRS airbags, including front, knee, and side-curtain protection for all three rows. Standard active safety features include Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), Hill-start Assist Control (HAC), and an Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Brake Assist specifically tuned for mixed sand and asphalt surfaces. The GXR trim also includes front and rear parking sensors to aid in navigating tight city parking spaces.

The bottom line

This is a mechanically sound, GCC-spec workhorse ideal for a family that values Toyota's legendary reliability and the high resale security of a white 200 Series.
