Summary

This 2015 Mercedes-Benz S400 AMG offers a compelling entry point into the S-Class family, combining the visual aggression of the AMG styling package with a highly efficient 333-horsepower V6 powertrain. In the GCC market, the white exterior is the most sought-after color for resale value, as it effectively manages the intense local heat. With 115,000 km on the clock, this car has been driven approximately 12,000 km per year—well below the GCC average of 25,000 km—suggesting a life of lighter duty or selective use. For the Dubai or Riyadh executive, it provides the same presence and rear-cabin luxury as an S500 while offering significantly better fuel efficiency in stop-start city traffic. This specific GCC-spec model is a standout opportunity for buyers who want flagship prestige without the high running costs of a V8.

This Car vs Other 2015 S400s

While many S400s in the UAE are high-mileage commuters averaging 200,000 km, this example sits at a modest 115,000 km, representing roughly half the typical usage for its age. The white exterior is a strategic choice for the GCC, consistently commanding higher demand and faster turnover in the used market than darker shades. Being a GCC-spec vehicle, it avoids the insurance and cooling compatibility issues often found with imported North American or Japanese models.

AMG vs Lower Trims

The AMG trim transforms the S400 from a conservative sedan into a sportier executive flagship with deeper front aprons, side skirts, and 19-inch AMG twin 5-spoke wheels. Inside, the trim adds perforated brake discs and stainless steel pedals, alongside higher-tier features frequently bundled with this package in the GCC, such as the 360° camera and ventilated seating. These additions are vital for maintaining high resale interest, as local buyers prioritize the 'AMG-look' regardless of the engine size.

S400 vs Segment Rivals

The S400 leads the BMW 740i and Audi A8 3.0 TFSI in terms of outright cabin refinement and the prestige of the 'S-Class' badge in the Gulf region. Its V6 Bi-Turbo engine is specifically tuned for smooth delivery, making it more relaxed during long highway stretches between Abu Dhabi and Dubai than its more clinical German rivals. The air suspension system is also widely regarded as the most effective in the segment at ironing out the expansion joins common on GCC highways.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the S400 averages approximately 8.4–11.4 L/100km, offering a significant saving over the S500's V8 in heavy Dubai traffic. In the GCC, Mercedes-Benz maintains one of the most robust authorized service networks, including Gargash and Emirates Motor Company, ensuring parts are always readily available. The S400 typically sees an annual depreciation of 12–15% in the UAE, though white GCC-spec models with the AMG package tend to hold their value at the higher end of that range.

Performance & Capability

The 3.0L V6 Bi-Turbo engine delivers a surprising 0–100 km/h sprint in just 6.1 seconds, providing plenty of punch for overtaking on fast-moving highways like E11. With a limited top speed of 250 km/h and 480 Nm of torque available from low in the rev range, it handles the weight of the long-wheelbase chassis with ease. The rear-wheel-drive configuration and 7G-TRONIC PLUS transmission ensure a classic, smooth power delivery that prioritizes passenger comfort over raw aggression.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is a sanctuary designed for the GCC climate, featuring powerful dual-zone climate control and ventilated front seats as standard. Acoustic glass helps isolate passengers from both the exterior desert heat and highway wind noise, while the Burmester surround sound system provides a premium audio experience. Rear passengers benefit from ample legroom and dedicated cooling vents, essential for family or executive transport during the summer months.

Safety

This S400 is equipped with a comprehensive safety suite, including the standard 360° camera system which is indispensable for parking such a large sedan in tight urban spaces. It features Pre-Safe technology, Attention Assist to monitor driver fatigue during long desert drives, and multiple airbags providing a 5-star level of protection. The AMG-spec perforated brake system offers enhanced stopping power and better heat dissipation, a critical factor during high-speed highway driving in high ambient temperatures.

The bottom line

This S400 AMG is the ideal choice for a buyer who wants the full S-Class experience with lower mileage and the most resale-friendly color and spec available in the GCC today.
