• One-touch power moonroof standard

Summary

This Honda Accord Coupe EXI represents a balanced entry into the sporty coupe market, pairing a reliable 2.4L i-VTEC engine with a sleek two-door silhouette that shares no body panels with the sedan version. Silver remains one of the highest-resale colors in the UAE, effectively masking desert dust while maintaining a professional look. While competitors often prioritize utility, the Accord Coupe focuses on driver-centric aesthetics without sacrificing the brand's legendary build quality. For a GCC buyer, this specific trim offers the ideal blend of updated 2016 facelift styling and essential regional features like dual-zone climate control. It stands as a reliable, high-style daily driver that handles both city commutes and long highway stretches with equal poise.

This Car vs Other 2016 Accord Coupes

At 146,500 km, this vehicle sits slightly below the average GCC annual usage of 20,000–25,000 km, suggesting it has been used moderately compared to many long-distance commuters in the region. The silver exterior is a strategic choice for the Gulf, as it offers superior heat reflection and historically maintains higher resale value than niche colors. As a GCC-spec model, it benefits from the appropriate cooling systems and localized warranty support that American-spec imports often lack.

EXI vs Lower Trims

The EXI trim significantly elevates the experience over the base LX-S by introducing Honda’s LaneWatch system, which utilizes a camera under the passenger mirror to display traffic on the central screen. It also adds a one-touch power moonroof and a second 7-inch touchscreen for improved multimedia connectivity. Drivers also benefit from a power-adjustable seat and upgraded 17-inch alloy wheels that provide a sharper profile than the standard base equipment.

Accord Coupe vs Segment Rivals

The Accord Coupe leads rivals like the Nissan Altima Coupe and Toyota 86 in terms of interior volume, offering a genuinely usable 5-seat cabin that most sports cars lack. Its 65-litre fuel tank provides a significant range advantage for long desert drives between Dubai and Riyadh. While the Toyota 86 focuses on raw handling, the Accord provides a more refined, quiet highway experience better suited for daily Gulf traffic.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the 2.4L powertrain averages approximately 8.9 L/100km, though this can shift to 11.2 L/100km in heavy GCC stop-start traffic with the AC at maximum. Maintenance is highly accessible with Al-Futtaim and other authorized centers across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Oman, ensuring parts are always in stock. The Accord historically retains value better than European rivals, typically depreciating only 8-10% annually in the local market.

Performance & Capability

The 191 hp i-VTEC engine is tuned for smooth, linear power delivery, reaching a top speed of 208 km/h on open highways. The CVT transmission is optimized for efficiency but includes a Sport mode for more responsive overtaking during highway commutes. Despite its sporty two-door appearance, the front-wheel-drive setup ensures stable, predictable handling on both wet city roads and sandy coastal stretches.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is designed for the high-temperature GCC climate, featuring a powerful dual-zone automatic climate control system with rear-seat vents to keep all five passengers cool. Road noise is minimized through Active Noise Cancellation technology, creating a quiet environment for the premium 6-speaker audio system. The interior layout prioritizes ergonomics, with intuitive steering-wheel-mounted controls and a high-resolution dashboard display for easy navigation of vehicle settings.

Safety

Standard safety features include six airbags and the Advanced Compatibility Engineering (ACE) body structure, which is designed to redirect energy away from the cabin during a collision. GCC-specific safety is enhanced by Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) for maintaining traction on dusty surfaces and a multi-angle rearview camera for easier parking in tight urban spaces. The inclusion of LaneWatch provides a critical safety buffer during fast-moving highway lane changes common in local traffic.

The bottom line

This Accord Coupe is the perfect match for a young professional or small family seeking a stylish, high-reliability vehicle that holds its value in the GCC market. Its moderate mileage and regional specifications make it a safer, long-term investment than similar-aged imports.
