Majid - I wanted to get a pre owned import Type R but finding one here in Dubai is hard. I settled for a used Honda Accord Coupe 3.5 V6 Sport which was close enough. Excellent cars in 2012 trim, specs are awesome, and it looks great. The rear headroom is remarkable for a sport coupe cars.
Pros: Rear headroom, fuel economy and ride.
Cons: Expensive when new with options.

Alaa - Got my second hand DX 2.4 ivtec a few months ago from the export market. Great car for the UAE with mighty powerful a/c and options. Next year, I’m planning to buy a used LXI or EX sedan as a secondary car as there are selling at a low price.
Pros: Price in UAE, maintenance and space.
Cons: Road Noise.

Refaat - Used Honda Accord cars are hard to beat anywhere in the world/ I bought myself a VE 2.4L model a few years ago, and it’s still going strong to this day which I’m still amazed by. Highly recommend these vehicles to anyone looking for a mid-sized sedan. I hear the coupe is good as well.
Pros: Large interior, build quality and fuel consumption.
Cons: Options are expensive.

About the Honda Accord

There is without a doubt that the Accord is one of the world's most popular sedans. No matter what part of the globe you go, you’ll see at least a dozen of these on your travels. Hailing from Japan in the late 70’s, it started life as a compact sedan. In its current trim, it is marketed as a full-size car.

Road rivals: Toyota Camry, Hyundai Elantra, Nissan Maxima and the Mitsubishi Galant.

1976, 1977, 1978, 1979, 1980 and 1981 Honda Accord in Dubai, UAE

This is where it all began. In its first generation, the iconic sedan fits in with every other vehicle at the time with its regular looks and driveability. The Accord proved popular around the world due to its fuel economy and overall size.

LX and SE served as the two trims available; base options include manual accessories, radio tuner and fabric seats. Additional features include a digital clock, air conditioning, leather seats, power window, power steering and stiff springs for the suspension.

During these years, more options joined the list including chrome trim. To keep the vehicle fresh, Honda updated the car here and there; these updates include new grilles, tail lamps and remote mirrors.

Two body types are available during these years; hatchback and sedan. Both are equipped with a 1.4 or 1.6-litre four cylinder petrol motor powering the front wheels with either a 2-speed automatic or a 3-speed manual gearbox.

Finding a model during these years in the GCC prove to be tough, so we haven’t got a price for you.

1982, 1983, 1984 and 1985 Honda Accord in Dubai, UAE

Both the hatchback and sedan models return for a brief second generation. Honda updated the vehicle's exterior to create a desirable car with squared-off headlights and a more refined. During its mid-cycle refresh, the Accord was the first Japanese car to offer computerised fuel injection on its larger engine offering.

At the time, the cars offered customers attractive options including shag carpet, chrome trim and velour interior trim. An Electro Gyrocator is available on select models and is the world’s first example of an automatic in-car navigation system. Accord’s of this era are available in either Silver, Sky Blue and Beige.

Both the 1.6 and 1.8-litre four cylinder motor return for another generation although slight tuned for extra power and improved fuel economy. The low-speed automatics don’t come back and are replaced by a 4-speed automatic gearbox with the 5-speed manual box returning.

83 automatic models are fitted with an upgraded transmission. The brand also added an SE model which features power windows, leather seats, powered sunroof and door locks. Grey was also added as a colour.

1984 models received a facelift and a range of new options and colours. Air conditioning, auto-reverse cassette radio, cruise control, power brakes, power steering and central locking were added along with a digital clock; roof mounted antenna and mock-alloy rims.

Colour options include Greek White, Columbus Grey (which was extremely popular), Stratos Blue, Regency Red, Copper Brown and Graphite Grey.

Much of the previous generation, these models are hard to find in the GCC.

1986, 1987, 1988 and 1989 Honda Accord in Dubai, UAE

Third Generation Honda Accord models rolled off the production line with a much sleeker design, thinner front lights, pop-up headlights and smaller front grille. These models were the first to incorporate double wishbone suspension for agile cornering and increased stability. ABS and four-wheel steering are optional extras.

Third generation models provide a range of options including cruise control, heated seats, leather seats, climate control, digital instrument cluster, sunroof and power accessories.

Hatchback and sedan models were the norm whereas, in 1987, the world was introduced to a coupe version and the Accord Aerodeck.

1.6 and 1.8-litre motors hold on for another few years and are joined by a 2-litre petrol motor powering the front wheels. An automatic and manual gearbox are available .

Any of these four body styles are hard to find in the Emirates.

1990, 1991, 1992 and 1993 Honda Accord in Dubai, UAE

Fourth generation models retained many of the previous generation's styling cues but instead of making them smaller, the brand enlarged them instead. Hatchback models did not return and were replaced by a station wagon model instead to join alongside the coupe and sedan models.

Many of the previous options transition through the generation plus heaps more are added to the list. 15-inch alloys, upgraded upholstery, 6-Disc CD player, rear spoiler, sun visors, central armrest.

SE trims returned in 1991 this time with a ABS, high-end audio system; leather trimmed steering wheel, leather seats and the brand's most powerful engine in the Accord category. Unique colours were also made available; Solaris Silver Metallic with Graphite Black or Brittany Clue Metallic with Ivory interior.

1.6-litre motors were also dropped and replaced with a larger 2.2-litre version. 1.8 and 2-litre units returned to power the front wheels as always. Manual and automatic transmissions are stock.

In 1991, the entire range was updated with adjustments to the exhaust system and various changes to the engine.

10th-anniversary editions were built for 93 models. These models are painted in a choice of three colours including Frost White, Granada Black Pearl and Arcadia Green Pearl. ABS and 4-wheel disc brakes are standard along with 15-inch alloys.

1994, 1995, 1995, 1996 and 1997 Honda Accord in Dubai, UAE

The fifth generation took the previous generation moulds and reworked the front and rear end once again giving the vehicle tweaked lights, front grille and a splash of curves. Coupe, sedan and station wagon are the three body styles available in these years.

These models ride on a ‘CD’ chassis which gives the vehicle a larger presence over the previous years. Features remain similar to the last generation.

Towards the end of the generation, a special edition launched which brought along a variety of unique colours including San Marino Red, Dark Currant Pearl and Heather Mist Metallic. These models are fitted with unique alloys, keyless entry, body colour matching cladding and a sunroof.

Four cylinder motors with identical displacements to the previous two generations all mated to a manual or automatic gearbox. V6 engines were also introduced with a displacement of 2.7-litres.

1998, 1999, 2000, 2001 and 2002 Honda Accord in Dubai, UAE

Now in its sixth generation, the exterior was redesigned once again to get rid of the ageing looks. New equipment joined the ranks including cabin air filters.

Proving popular alongside its rivals, the Accord sedan or coupe is filled with options including ABS, CD player, A/C, leather seats, sunroof, front airbags, keyless entry and a choice between steel or alloy rims on each corner.

Not only did the sixth generation bring new life to the model, the Honda Type R pounced onto the scene to take on the Evo and Impreza from Mitsubishi and Subaru respectively. These models weighed in lighter (1,200 kilos) compared to standard models.

With slightly modified interior including sports seats and a sports steering wheel, these models are exclusively available with a 5-speed manual gearbox. Shortly after these models launched, the Japanese brand launched the Civic Type R Motor Sports edition that has no air conditioning as well as no other creature comforts as it is pretty much a street legal race car.

Both the four-cylinder and V6 return for another round of front wheel power mated to either a manual or automatic gearbox.

2003, 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007 Honda Accord in Dubai, UAE

Updated for the seventh generation, the Accord proved to be popular once again with a revamped package.

Options grow once again and include leather seats; indicators mounted into each side mirror, multi-function steering wheel, Stability Control, four-wheel disc brakes, Electronic Brake-Force Distribution and 16 or 17-inch alloys.

Top trim models include all of the above mentioned as well as Vehicle Stability Assist and Brake Assist with Traction Control.

V6 motors and four cylinder ones are the two available with the latter being available with a few displacements to choose from. Manual gearboxes only pop up in the sedan versions at least in the GCC whereas the coupe is solely automatic in the region.

2008, 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012 Honda Accord in Dubai, UAE

Once again refreshed for its eighth generation, the mid-sized vehicle gets a new set of lights at both end and bolder lines. It may not turn 1000 heads a second, but it still gets the job done no matter what.

While retaining many of the previous options, there are a fair few added to the list including auto-dimming rearview mirrors, powered front seats, fake wood trim, Bluetooth, navigation, and fog lights, chrome trim, rear spoiler and dual exhaust tips. All available as optional extras. Powered accessories became the norm on standard models.

Trim levels in this generation include SE, EX, EX-L and EX-L V6. All have their very own draws to rope buyers in.

Both engines remain identical to the previous generation as does the drivetrains.

2013, 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017 Honda Accord in Dubai, UAE

Undergoing the knife once again, the ninth generation of the Accord pumps out more style in both coupe and sedan body styles.

All GCC models are equipped with noise cancellation interior trim, an i-MID system, an 8-inch display mounted in the centre console and media inputs. The base model (DX) are fitted with powered accessories, power steering, LED front running lights, ABS, 16-inch rims, cruise control, six-speaker setup, two front airbags and cloth upholstery.

LX models add side curtain airbags, floor mats, stability control and hill start to assist. These models can be kitted out with 17-inch alloys, sunroof and a touchscreen. EX models front fog lights, electric folding exterior mirrors, Bluetooth, dual-zone a/c, leather seats, leather-wrapped steering wheel, keyless start, rear parking sensors and powered drivers seats. These models can be fitted with a rear camera, navigation, seven-speaker sound system and powered front seats.

3.5 EX models have a mix of what is above along with dual exhaust tips sticking out of the rear end, LED headlights, LANEWATCH, 18-inch alloys, paddle shifters and a lip spoiler. Additional options include LED’s mounted in the door sills and chrome trim.

Once again both engines return with various displacements around the world powering the front wheels with either a manual or automatic gearbox. Of course, there are slight revisions for increased power and better fuel consumption.

A plug-in hybrid model is also available. However, this version was discontinued in 2015.
