Summary

This 2016 Honda Odyssey in Touring trim represents a practical find for families needing maximum utility without the high cost of a brand-new MPV. With 137,000 km on the clock, its usage sits within the expected average for a GCC-based vehicle of this age, where long inter-emirate commutes are standard. The Touring trim is a significant step up, offering the kind of premium tech and comfort features that keep passengers happy during long highway drives across the region. As a GCC-spec model, it is purpose-built to handle the intense summer heat while benefiting from one of the most reliable service networks in the Middle East. For those prioritizing space and safety, the Odyssey remains a benchmark in the segment.

This Car vs Other 2016 Odysseys

At 137,000 km, this Odyssey has been driven approximately 17,000 km per year, which is comfortably within the average GCC range of 15,000 to 25,000 km. While many family vans in the market have already crossed the 200,000 km threshold, this example remains in a mechanically reliable window for its next owner. The white exterior is the most sought-after color for resale in the UAE, as it effectively reflects solar heat and maintains its appearance better over time.

Touring vs Lower Trims

The Touring trim transforms the Odyssey from a basic commuter into a premium family lounge, adding 18-inch alloy wheels and memory-linked side mirrors that tilt down in reverse. Inside, it upgrades the experience with front and rear parking sensors, a moonroof, and integrated second-row sunshades that are essential for the GCC climate. Unlike the LX or EX, the Touring also includes a power tailgate and leather-wrapped steering wheel for a more refined driving feel.

Odyssey vs Segment Rivals

The Odyssey consistently leads rivals like the Toyota Sienna and Kia Carnival in seat flexibility, thanks to its Wide-Mode second row that adjusts to create more shoulder room. Its 3.5-liter V6 provides smoother highway power than the four-cylinder alternatives often found in the segment, making it better suited for full-capacity trips. Additionally, the Odyssey's low floor height makes ingress and egress much easier for children and elderly passengers compared to high-riding SUVs.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for this 3.5L V6 typically averages around 10.5 L/100km, which is efficient for an eight-seater in GCC highway conditions. Honda has one of the widest authorized service footprints across the UAE and Saudi Arabia, ensuring parts are always available and affordable. The Odyssey retains its value significantly better than European competitors, benefiting from a 10-12% annual depreciation rate compared to the steeper 15-20% seen in the luxury MPV segment.

Performance & Capability

The 250 hp V6 engine is tuned for effortless highway cruising, allowing for confident overtaking even when the car is fully loaded with eight passengers and luggage. While it isn't a performance car, the 6-speed automatic transmission is geared for smooth shifts, providing a relaxed experience during heavy Dubai or Riyadh traffic. Its 3,500-pound braked towing capacity also offers enough utility for light trailers or jet ski trips to the coast.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is designed around the 'Magic Seat' system, which allows the third row to disappear into the floor with a single motion, creating a cavernous cargo area. For the GCC summer, the tri-zone automatic climate control features dedicated vents for all three rows, ensuring that rear passengers stay cool even in 45°C weather. Acoustic glass and reinforced insulation help keep the interior quiet, shielding the family from external road and wind noise during high-speed travel.

Safety

Safety is a primary focus for this trim, which earned a 5-star overall rating from the NHTSA. It comes standard with Forward Collision Warning and Lane Departure Warning to assist drivers on long desert highways. The inclusion of Honda LaneWatch uses a camera to eliminate the passenger-side blind spot, a vital feature for navigating the multi-lane highways of the GCC safely.

The bottom line

For a GCC family seeking a dependable, high-spec eight-seater that has avoided excessive mileage, this Touring-trim Odyssey is a standout choice in today's used market.
