Summary

This 2016 Infiniti QX80 is a standout choice for GCC buyers seeking a robust family SUV with a commanding presence. With mileage that aligns perfectly with regional averages for its age, this GCC-spec vehicle offers the peace of mind of a local service history and superior cooling performance. Its black exterior is a high-demand choice in the local market, ensuring it maintains strong visual appeal and resale interest. Compared to its peers, the QX80 delivers a more luxurious, executive feel while retaining the rugged mechanical underpinnings of the legendary Nissan Patrol. For the UAE and wider GCC, the combination of V8 power and Infiniti's premium cabin finishes makes this a sophisticated yet durable long-distance tourer.

This Car vs Other 2016 QX80s

At 145,000 km, this vehicle sits comfortably within the expected mileage range for a 2016 model in the GCC, where highway driving is a daily reality. The black exterior is among the most sought-after colors in the local used market, providing a distinct advantage for future resale value. As a GCC-spec vehicle, it avoids the common service and parts compatibility issues often found with imported North American models.

EXCELLENCE vs Lower Trims

The Excellence trim elevates the ownership experience with features prioritized by GCC buyers, including the 15-speaker Bose Cabin Surround sound system and the Hydraulic Body Motion Control system for flatter cornering. It also features the Advanced Climate Control System with a Plasmacluster air purifier, which is essential for maintaining cabin air quality during dustier months. Rear-seat passengers benefit from the standard dual-screen entertainment system, a must-have for long family trips between emirates.

QX80 vs Segment Rivals

While rivals like the Lexus LX570 offer prestige, the QX80 leads with a more modern interior layout and a 5.6-litre V8 that feels more responsive in highway overtaking. Its generous second-row legroom surpasses many European competitors, making it a true seven-seater for adult passengers. The mechanical relationship to the Nissan Patrol means parts are more readily available across the entire GCC compared to American-brand alternatives.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption typically averages around 15 L/100km combined, though highway cruising at regional speed limits can see this improve significantly. Service centers for Infiniti are well-established across all major GCC cities, with standard intervals every 10,000 km. The QX80 experiences a stable depreciation rate of approximately 10–12% annually in the UAE, outperforming several European luxury SUVs in long-term value retention.

Performance & Capability

The 400 hp V8 engine provides a top speed of 215 km/h, ensuring effortless performance on long desert highways. Its body-on-frame construction and advanced four-wheel-drive system allow it to handle weekend desert excursions with ease while maintaining a 3,855 kg braked towing capacity. The Hydraulic Body Motion Control system is particularly effective at keeping this large SUV stable during sudden lane changes at highway speeds.

Comfort & Cabin

The seven-seat configuration is designed for maximum comfort, featuring ventilated front seats that are crucial for the local summer heat. Three-row climate control ensures that even passengers in the back receive dedicated airflow, managed by a high-output AC system tuned for 45°C+ temperatures. Acoustic glass and extensive sound insulation create a serene environment, shielding passengers from road noise during long cross-border drives.

Safety

This trim is equipped with a comprehensive suite of safety technology, including the 360-degree Around View Monitor with Moving Object Detection, which is invaluable for parking such a large vehicle in city malls. It also includes Blind Spot Warning and Lane Departure Prevention, providing critical support on fast-moving multi-lane highways like Sheikh Zayed Road. The Intelligent Brake Assist system offers an extra layer of protection by helping to mitigate potential front-end collisions.

The bottom line

Perfect for the growing family that needs a luxurious executive cruiser capable of occasional desert adventures, this QX80 offers the best of Infiniti's flagship features in a well-maintained, GCC-ready package.
