Summary

This 10-year-old Lexus RX350 Platinum represents one of the most reliable luxury crossovers in the GCC, known for its smooth V6 power and exceptional cabin refinement. As the range-topping Platinum trim, it features premium touches like semi-aniline leather and a high-fidelity Mark Levinson sound system that elevate the daily commute. Silver remains a top-tier resale color in this market, effectively hiding dust and maintaining its value better than darker shades. For a buyer seeking a durable family SUV that handles the UAE's heat and long highway stretches with ease, this Lexus is a standout mechanical choice.

This Car vs Other 2016 RX350s

With 220,000 km over 10 years, this RX350 has been driven approximately 22,000 km annually, which aligns perfectly with the typical GCC usage pattern for long-distance commuting. Its Silver exterior is a strategic advantage for local resale, offering the best resistance to the desert sun and minor surface wear. While higher in mileage, these Japanese-built V6 engines are legendary for their longevity in the region when compared to European turbocharged rivals.

PLATINUM vs Lower Trims

The Platinum trim is the most sought-after specification in the Emirates, adding essential GCC comforts like ventilated front seats and a massive 12.3-inch infotainment display not found on the Premier base trim. It also upgrades the ownership experience with a 15-speaker Mark Levinson premium audio system, a 360-degree camera for easier parking, and a Head-Up Display. These high-end features ensure the car remains competitive against much newer models in terms of luxury and tech.

RX350 vs Segment Rivals

The RX350 leads rivals like the BMW X5 and Mercedes-Benz GLE in long-term reliability and air-conditioning performance, which is a critical factor during the peak GCC summer. Its naturally aspirated V6 provides a linear power delivery that is less complex to maintain than the turbocharged engines found in its German competitors. Furthermore, the Lexus holds a significant edge in cabin quietness and seat comfort for long drives between Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

Running Costs & Resale

Lexus maintains one of the strongest resale values in the GCC, typically depreciating at a much slower rate than its European luxury counterparts. Real-world fuel consumption averages around 9.1 to 10.7 L/100km, which is efficient for a 3.5L V6 on long highway stretches. With a massive authorized service network across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Oman, parts are readily available and affordable, making this one of the most cost-effective luxury SUVs to own long-term.

Performance & Capability

The 296 hp V6 engine provides effortless overtaking power on the E11, reaching 100 km/h in approximately 7.7 seconds. Its All-Wheel Drive system is tuned for on-road stability and light trail use, offering confidence during occasional weekend trips to gravel-heavy wadi areas. The 8-speed automatic transmission is geared for smooth transitions, ensuring a relaxing executive driving experience even in stop-start city traffic.

Comfort & Cabin

Designed for premium comfort, the cabin features triple-zone climate control with dedicated rear vents to ensure all five passengers stay cool in 45-degree heat. The Platinum trim’s ventilated seats are a game-changer for GCC summers, providing active cooling that makes mid-day drives comfortable. High-grade acoustic glass keeps the interior hushed, isolating occupants from road noise and the harsh outdoor environment.

Safety

Standard safety on this Platinum trim includes a comprehensive suite of active technologies such as Blind Spot Monitoring and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, which are invaluable on multi-lane GCC highways. The vehicle is equipped with a full array of airbags and advanced stability control to manage sand or rain-slicked surfaces. Its 360-degree Panoramic View Monitor provides a clear perspective of surroundings, significantly reducing the risk of minor bumps in tight urban parking spots.

The bottom line

For the GCC buyer who prioritizes Japanese reliability and high-spec luxury, this RX350 Platinum offers a prestigious ownership experience with the peace of mind that only a Lexus V6 can provide.
