• 13-speaker Burmester surround-sound system standard
• Panoramic sunroof with Magic Sky Control

Summary

This S550 Coupe represents a rare opportunity to own a low-mileage example of the flagship W222-generation coupe, showing significantly less wear than typical 2016 models in the GCC. Finished in white—the region's most desirable color for resale and heat reflection—this American-spec grand tourer offers a massive saving over local-spec equivalents without sacrificing the core luxury of the S-Class. The twin-turbo V8 provides effortless highway cruising power, while the two-door silhouette offers a level of exclusivity that the sedan cannot match. For a UAE buyer, this listing offers a high-status vehicle at a competitive entry point, provided the owner maintains it via the UAE's extensive network of independent Mercedes specialists.

This Car vs Other 2016 S550s

With just over 54,000 km, this vehicle has covered roughly half the distance of an average 2016 model in the UAE, where typical annual use often hits 20,000 km. The white exterior is a strategic choice for the GCC market, ensuring better cabin cooling during summer months and higher buyer demand at resale. Being an American-spec import, it offers a significantly lower purchase price compared to GCC-spec listings of the same year.

STANDARD vs Lower Trims

As the base trim for the Coupe, this model already includes features that were optional on the sedan, such as a 13-speaker Burmester audio system and keyless ignition. It specifically features the high-tech Magic Sky Control panoramic roof, which allows you to electronically adjust the glass tint to block heat—a vital feature for the Gulf sun. Unlike the entry-level sedans, the Coupe also comes standard with an automated parking system and soft-close doors.

S550 vs Segment Rivals

The S550 Coupe leads rivals like the BMW 6 Series and Maserati GranTurismo in ride quality thanks to its standard Airmatic air suspension, which is better suited for the UAE's long highway stretches. While the Maserati focuses on exhaust note, the Mercedes offers a larger 79-litre fuel tank, providing superior range for cross-border drives to Oman or Saudi Arabia. Its cabin insulation and HVAC power are also widely considered more robust for high-temperature environments.

Running Costs & Resale

This V8 powertrain typically consumes between 10 and 12 L/100km on long GCC highway drives, though stop-start Dubai traffic will see this figure rise. As an American-spec car, it is eligible for registration and insurance in the UAE, though buyers should note that resale values are generally 20-30% lower than GCC-spec cars. Maintenance is easily managed through specialized independent service centers in Al Quoz or Mussafah, where parts for the W222 generation are plentiful and affordable.

Performance & Capability

The 4.6-litre twin-turbo V8 delivers 449 hp and a massive 700 Nm of torque, enabling a 0–100 km/h sprint in approximately 4.6 seconds. This performance is ideal for the fast-paced merging lanes of the E11 highway, providing instant overtaking power at any speed. The rear-wheel-drive configuration ensures a classic luxury feel, while the 7-speed automatic transmission is tuned for seamless shifts rather than aggressive racing.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is a four-seat sanctuary featuring 12-way power-adjustable heated front seats and a dedicated fragrance system that keeps the interior fresh even in humid coastal weather. Acoustic glass helps isolate the cabin from the wind noise common during high-speed desert highway travel. With its high-quality leather and wood trim, the interior remains one of the most refined environments in the automotive world, even a decade after its release.

Safety

This S550 comes equipped with a comprehensive safety suite, including Collision Prevention Assist Plus and Pre-Safe, which are highly effective for fast-moving multi-lane traffic in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Standard LED Intelligent Light System technology adapts the headlamps to road conditions and curves, providing excellent visibility on unlit desert roads. Attention Assist also monitors for driver fatigue, a critical feature for long-distance journeys between emirates.

The bottom line

For the buyer who wants the prestige and V8 power of an S-Class Coupe without the six-figure premium of a local-spec car, this low-mileage American import is the smartest way into the flagship segment.
