Summary

This 2017 Hyundai H-1 GL 3-seater is a purpose-built commercial workhorse that offers exceptional utility for businesses across the GCC. While its mileage reflects a dedicated duty cycle, the 2.4-litre petrol engine and manual gearbox combination is preferred in the local market for its mechanical simplicity and long-term durability. The white exterior remains the most practical choice for GCC fleet operations, ensuring the best possible heat reflection and resale liquidity. As a GCC-spec vehicle, it benefits from a cooling system and parts availability tailored for regional climate extremes. It stands out as a reliable logistics solution that avoids the maintenance complexities often found in modern diesel alternatives.

This Car vs Other 2017 H-1s

At 9 years old with 270,000 km, this H-1 has performed typical commercial duties, averaging approximately 30,000 km per year. While this is above the average for passenger cars, it is standard for cargo vans in the GCC logistics sector. The white exterior is the highest-demand color for commercial resale, providing a significant advantage when branding or selling the vehicle later.

GL vs Lower Trims

The GL trim for the 3-seater panel van provides essential commercial upgrades, including a full steel bulkhead to separate the cabin from the cargo area. It features air conditioning specifically optimized for GCC summers and a basic audio system with USB connectivity, which are often absent or less robust in base-level export models. These standard GL features ensure a comfortable working environment for the driver during long midday shifts.

H-1 vs Segment Rivals

The Hyundai H-1 competes directly with the Toyota Hiace and Nissan Urvan, leading the segment in cargo volume with a massive 4,426-litre capacity. Its 3200 mm wheelbase provides superior stability on high-speed UAE motorways compared to narrower rivals. The 75-litre fuel tank is one of the largest in its class, reducing downtime during cross-emirate delivery runs.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the 2.4L petrol engine averages between 10.2 and 13.6 L/100km, performing reliably on 95-octane fuel available throughout the region. Service intervals are typically every 10,000 km, supported by one of the most extensive authorized service networks across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Oman. The H-1 maintains strong value retention in the secondary market due to its reputation for reaching high mileages without major mechanical failures.

Performance & Capability

The 2.4-litre 4-cylinder engine produces a reliable 175 hp, delivered through a 5-speed manual transmission that allows for precise control when the van is fully loaded. It features a rear-wheel-drive configuration, which is essential for maintaining traction and durability under heavy payloads. The 5.6-metre turning circle makes it surprisingly maneuverable in tight urban loading zones in Dubai or Riyadh.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is configured as a practical 3-seater, featuring a front bench that can be adjusted to maximize legroom. The air conditioning system is a high-output unit designed for rapid cooling, a critical requirement for GCC commercial operations. Storage is prioritized with a large glove box and door pockets, ensuring the driver has ample space for delivery logs and personal items during long shifts.

Safety

This H-1 GL comes standard with an Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) and 16-inch disc brakes on all four wheels for consistent stopping power under load. The safety suite includes a driver-side airbag and seatbelt pretensioners. The GCC-spec model also features reinforced body pillars to provide better structural integrity during commercial transport tasks.

The bottom line

This H-1 is an ideal acquisition for a business looking for a high-volume cargo carrier with a proven GCC track record and a simplified mechanical setup. It represents a low-entry-point opportunity to secure a reliable logistics asset that is already optimized for the regional climate.
