Jeep Wrangler SPORT - American Specs - Excellent Condition

Highlights

• 285 hp from a 3.6L V6 Pentastar engine
• 261 mm standard ground clearance
• Full-size spare wheel standard

Summary

This two-door Jeep Wrangler Sport is a purist's choice for the GCC, offering the iconic short-wheelbase agility that excels in both technical desert dunes and tight city parking. The Granite Crystal Metallic exterior is a highly sought-after shade in the UAE, known for maintaining a cleaner look against desert dust and holding its resale value significantly better than louder colors. With only 86,000 km, this unit has been driven much less than the typical 25,000 km annual average seen in the region, meaning the mechanical components have plenty of life for the next owner. The American spec 3.6L V6 remains the preferred powertrain for its proven reliability in high-heat conditions and vast parts availability across all seven Emirates. This is a robust, manual-window-style build that prioritizes rugged durability, making it the perfect platform for weekend adventures or a reliable daily commuter.

This Car vs Other 2017 Wranglers

At 86,000 km, this Wrangler sits well below the GCC market average for a seven-year-old vehicle, which typically clocks in between 140,000 and 175,000 km. The Grey (Granite Crystal) exterior is a premium resale color in the UAE, resisting the sun-fading issues often seen with brighter reds or yellows. Choosing an American spec model offers a cost-effective entry point into Wrangler ownership while benefiting from the same global Pentastar engine found in GCC-spec units.

Sport vs Lower Trims

The Sport trim serves as the foundation for Jeep’s legendary capability, featuring the Command-Trac shift-on-the-fly 4WD system and heavy-duty Dana 44 rear axle as standard. Unlike base utility configurations, the Sport includes cruise control and an eight-speaker audio system, providing necessary comfort for long highway stretches between Abu Dhabi and Dubai. This specific trim is favored by enthusiasts because it avoids the complex electronics found in higher trims, which can be sensitive to extreme heat and sand ingress.

Wrangler vs Segment Rivals

The Wrangler leads rivals like the Toyota FJ Cruiser in pure customization and open-air versatility, featuring a fully removable roof and doors that no competitor can match. Its short wheelbase provides a superior breakover angle, allowing it to navigate sharp dune crests that longer SUVs would struggle with. While the Nissan Xterra offers more interior volume, the Jeep’s solid-axle design provides significantly more durability for frequent off-roaders in the Liwa or Fossil Rock regions.

Running Costs & Resale

The 3.6L Pentastar engine is widely serviced across the GCC with a massive network of independent specialists and official centers in every major city. Real-world fuel consumption typically ranges from 11.5L/100km on highways to 15L/100km in heavy Dubai traffic, which is competitive for a body-on-frame 4x4. Wranglers historically retain roughly 65-70% of their value after five years in the UAE, outperforming most American-branded SUVs due to their cult following and high demand for clean, low-mileage examples.

Performance & Capability

The 3.6L V6 produces a robust 285 horsepower and 347 Nm of torque, enabling a 0-100 km/h time of approximately 8.1 seconds. With 261 mm of standard ground clearance and a selectable low-range transfer case, this vehicle is purpose-built for the UAE’s diverse terrain. The five-speed automatic transmission is tuned to handle high-torque demands, providing smooth shifts whether climbing steep dunes or overtaking at highway speeds.

Comfort & Cabin

The 4-seat interior is designed for easy cleaning after a day in the sand, featuring durable cloth upholstery and a wash-out interior with drain plugs. Despite its rugged exterior, standard air conditioning is highly effective even during the peak 45°C GCC summers, ensuring cabin temperatures remain comfortable. The 2-door configuration offers surprisingly generous front legroom, while the folding rear seats allow for expanded cargo space for camping gear or grocery runs.

Safety

Safety is managed through a high-strength steel roll cage and Electronic Stability Control (ESC) with integrated Roll Mitigation to keep the vehicle stable during sudden maneuvers. Standard features include advanced multi-stage front airbags, ABS with off-road calibration, and Traction Control, which is essential for maintaining grip on loose gravel or slippery sand surfaces. The inclusion of Hill-Start Assist provides added confidence when navigating steep inclines in the Hajar Mountains.

The bottom line

This is a rare opportunity to own a low-mileage, mechanically sound Wrangler in a high-resale color, ideal for the buyer who wants a weekend-ready desert machine without the premium price of a Sahara or Rubicon.
