• 241 hp from a 2.0L turbocharged 4-cylinder
• 1,600 litres maximum cargo capacity

Summary

This 9-year-old GLC 300 offers a balanced entry into the Mercedes-Benz luxury SUV lineup, pairing everyday practicality with the aggressive aesthetic of the AMG exterior styling package. Finished in deep black, it remains one of the most desirable resale colors in the GCC market, holding its visual appeal against newer models. The 2.0-liter turbocharged engine is perfectly suited for the region, providing enough punch for confident highway overtaking while remaining more fuel-efficient than larger V6 alternatives during city commutes. For a buyer looking for premium German engineering and a prestigious badge without the steep depreciation of a new vehicle, this trim provides a high-specification cabin that still feels contemporary. Its SUV body style ensures a commanding view of traffic and enough ground clearance for the occasional light gravel path or weekend family getaway.

This Car vs Other 2017 GLC 300s

With 220,000 km on the odometer, this vehicle has been driven more than the average GCC annual usage of 20,000 km, suggesting a life likely spent on long-distance highway commutes. While the mileage is higher for the year, the black exterior is a significant advantage for future resale value in the local market. This specific example benefits from being the refined second-year production of the X253 generation, known for resolving early launch software and trim nuances.

AMG vs Lower Trims

The AMG styling package on this GLC 300 elevates it above the standard base trim by adding more aggressive front and rear bumpers, side skirts, and larger alloy wheels that sharpen its road presence. Inside, you typically find a flat-bottomed sport steering wheel and brushed aluminum pedals that aren't available on lower trims. These aesthetic upgrades are highly valued by GCC buyers who prioritize the sportier 'AMG look' even on the efficient four-cylinder powertrain.

GLC 300 vs Segment Rivals

The GLC 300 leads rivals like the BMW X3 and Audi Q5 in terms of interior material richness and cabin quietness, making it a preferred choice for long drives between emirates. While the Audi might offer a more tech-forward cockpit, the Mercedes provides a more supple ride quality that handles the heat-expanded highway joints of the GCC with greater composure. Its 40/20/40 split-folding rear seats offer superior flexibility for cargo compared to many competitors in the compact luxury SUV segment.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for this 2.0L turbo typically averages around 9.5 to 11.0 L/100km in the stop-and-go traffic typical of Dubai or Riyadh, though it becomes significantly more efficient on the open highway. Mercedes-Benz has one of the most robust authorized service networks across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait, ensuring that parts and expertise are always within reach. While European luxury SUVs generally see 12-15% annual depreciation, the GLC maintains a loyal following in the GCC, helping it retain value better than less established premium brands.

Performance & Capability

The 241 hp output allows for a 0–100 km/h sprint in 6.4 seconds, providing more than enough performance for the fast-moving left lanes of the E11 or E311. The 9G-TRONIC automatic transmission is a highlight, keeping the engine in its optimal power band while reducing fuel consumption at high cruising speeds. While designed primarily for the road, its ground clearance and selectable drive modes make it capable of handling sandy tracks or gravel roads during weekend excursions.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is engineered for the high-temperature GCC climate, featuring a powerful dual-zone climate control system that quickly cools the interior after being parked in the sun. The 5-seat layout provides generous legroom for front and rear passengers, while the acoustic glass helps insulate occupants from external road and wind noise during high-speed highway travel. Artico synthetic leather is standard on this trim, offering better durability and heat resistance than traditional natural leather in the intense local summer.

Safety

Standard safety equipment on this American-spec GLC 300 includes Collision Prevention Assist Plus and Pre-Safe, which can prepare the cabin for an impact. It also features Attention Assist to monitor for driver fatigue on long desert highway stretches and Crosswind Assist to help keep the car stable during the gusty winds common in the region. The multiple airbag system and high-strength steel passenger cell provide excellent passive protection for the whole family.

The bottom line

This GLC 300 AMG Line is the ideal choice for a professional or small family wanting the prestige and comfort of a Mercedes SUV at a more accessible entry point. It represents a smart buy for those who value the sportier AMG appearance and the legendary ride quality of a mid-size German crossover.
