Summary

This 2017 Mitsubishi Pajero represents the gold standard for mechanical reliability in the GCC, especially in this highly sought-after white exterior which excels at reflecting the intense desert sun. As the GLS Platinum trim, it bridges the gap between rugged off-road utility and premium cabin features, making it a versatile choice for both families and weekend adventurers. The Pajero remains a regional favorite due to its bulletproof body-on-frame construction and a parts network that is arguably the most accessible across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Oman. With seven seats and proven 4x4 hardware, it offers a level of durability that newer monocoque crossovers simply cannot match. For a buyer looking for long-term peace of mind and strong resale liquidity, this listing is a safe and practical investment.

This Car vs Other 2017 Pajeros

With 173,000 km, this vehicle sits right at the average for a 2017 model in the GCC, where long-distance highway commutes typically add 25,000 km per year. While many similar listings might show lower numbers, those are often city-only vehicles that face more wear on cooling systems compared to highway-driven examples. The white paint is the strongest possible asset for resale in the local market, consistently fetching higher prices than darker alternatives.

GLS H/L PLATINUM vs Lower Trims

The GLS Platinum trim is a significant step up from the base GLX and standard GLS models, adding essential GCC luxuries like leather upholstery and a power-adjustable driver's seat. The most notable upgrade is the 12-speaker Rockford Acoustic Design audio system with a factory-integrated subwoofer, providing a premium sound experience that lower trims lack. You also benefit from chrome exterior accents and a sunroof, which are highly valued in the used market.

Pajero vs Segment Rivals

When compared to the Toyota Fortuner or Prado, the Pajero leads with its superior 88-litre fuel tank, providing more range for long desert crossings or inter-emirate travel. Its cabin feels wider than the Fortuner, offering better shoulder room for second-row passengers. While rivals may offer newer tech, the Pajero's Super Select 4WD-II system is renowned for its ability to shift between 2WD and 4WD at speeds up to 100 km/h, a feature many competitors don't match.

Running Costs & Resale

Maintenance is exceptionally affordable thanks to the massive availability of both OEM and high-quality aftermarket parts across all seven emirates. Service intervals are typically set at 5,000 km or 10,000 km, depending on how much off-roading you do, with authorized centers like Al Habtoor providing widespread coverage. The Pajero enjoys one of the lowest depreciation rates in the SUV segment, often retaining over 60% of its value after five years in the GCC.

Performance & Capability

Equipped with a robust 6-cylinder engine, this Pajero delivers consistent power for high-speed highway overtaking and steady torque for climbing dunes. The Super Select 4WD-II system allows you to choose between fuel-efficient 2WD, full-time 4WD for rain or gravel, and locked 4WD high/low ranges for serious off-roading. Its short front overhang and generous ground clearance make it inherently more capable in the sand than most modern SUVs.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is designed for the Middle Eastern climate, featuring a powerful dual-zone air conditioning system with dedicated rear vents to ensure all seven passengers stay cool during peak summer. The third-row seats are cleverly designed to fold flat into the floor or be removed entirely, maximizing cargo space for camping gear. Genuine leather seating and wood-grain interior accents provide a classic executive feel that stands up well to daily family use.

Safety

Standard safety features on this trim include dual front airbags, Active Stability and Traction Control, and an Anti-lock Braking System with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution. For modern convenience and safety in busy GCC traffic, it includes a rear-view camera and parking sensors as standard. The high seating position and large glass area also provide excellent natural visibility, which is a major advantage on fast-moving multi-lane highways.

The bottom line

This is the ideal choice for a family or enthusiast who needs a dependable 4x4 that won't lose its value or break the bank at the service center. It’s a honest, rugged workhorse that is perfectly suited for the unique demands of the GCC lifestyle.
