Summary

This 9-year-old Porsche 718 Cayman offers a focused mid-engine experience that remains a benchmark for balanced handling in the GCC. With its white exterior providing excellent heat reflection and strong resale appeal in the local market, this specific example is well-suited for the region's climate. The 300 hp turbocharged engine delivers sharp performance for highway overtaking across the Emirates while maintaining better fuel efficiency than older six-cylinder predecessors. This is a highly usable sports car that balances daily drivability with the precision needed for a weekend at the Dubai Autodrome. For a buyer in the GCC, it represents an accessible entry into Porsche ownership with verified regional suitability.

This Car vs Other 2017 718 Caymans

At 97,000 km, this vehicle has covered approximately 10,700 km per year, which is significantly lower than the GCC average of 20,000–25,000 km. This lower-than-average usage for the region suggests better preservation of the mechanical components and interior surfaces. The white exterior is the most sought-after color in the UAE and wider GCC market, ensuring the best possible value retention and easier cooling during peak summer months.

STANDARD vs Lower Trims

The 718 Cayman serves as the entry point to the mid-engine range, but it comes standard with high-value features like Bi-Xenon headlights and the Porsche Communication Management (PCM) system. Unlike earlier base models, this generation includes the 300 hp turbocharged flat-four, which provides more low-end torque than the previous generation's larger naturally aspirated engines, making it much more responsive in city traffic.

718 Cayman vs Segment Rivals

Compared to rivals like the Jaguar F-Type or the Audi TTS, the 718 Cayman offers a superior mid-engine layout that provides near-perfect weight distribution. It also features a unique dual-trunk configuration with 425 litres of total storage, offering significantly more practicality for regional road trips than its competitors. Porsche's cooling systems are also specifically renowned for maintaining performance in the extreme 45C+ temperatures of the GCC.

Running Costs & Resale

This powertrain averages approximately 7.4 L/100km on the highway, making it an efficient choice for long-distance commutes between cities like Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Service intervals are typically every 15,000 km or 12 months, and Porsche's extensive authorized service network across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait ensures easy maintenance. The 718 Cayman maintains exceptionally strong value retention in the GCC, often depreciating slower than its European counterparts.

Performance & Capability

The 300 hp turbocharged engine allows for a 0–100 km/h sprint in just 4.9 seconds when equipped with the automatic PDK transmission. This mid-engine configuration ensures incredible stability during high-speed highway driving and precise cornering. With a top speed of 275 km/h, it is perfectly suited for the well-maintained highways of the region, offering effortless power delivery across the entire rev range.

Comfort & Cabin

The two-seat cabin is designed with an ergonomic focus, featuring supportive sport seats and high-quality materials that withstand the intense local sun. The air conditioning system is highly effective, a critical factor for GCC owners, and the cabin remains well-insulated from road noise during long desert drives. The 8-speaker audio system and intuitive touchscreen provide a modern tech experience for daily use.

Safety

Standard safety equipment includes six airbags, including knee protection, and the Porsche Stability Management (PSM) system which is vital for maintaining traction on sandy or dusty road surfaces. The car also features high-performance four-piston aluminum monobloc fixed-calliper brakes, providing exceptional stopping power. Parking assistance systems are included to help navigate tight urban parking in major GCC cities.

The bottom line

This is a low-mileage, GCC-spec Porsche in the region's best resale color, making it a perfect opportunity for an enthusiast looking for a reliable and prestigious daily sports car.
