Tesla Model X 100D GCC Specs

Highlights

• 435 km electric range (Real Range)
• 0–100 km/h in 4.9 seconds
• 100 kWh battery with 145 kW peak DC charging

Summary

This GCC-spec electric SUV represents a significant entry point into high-performance EV ownership, especially as the black exterior remains a top-tier choice for resale value in the UAE market. With its six-seat configuration featuring second-row captain chairs, it balances family logistics with an executive feel that typical five-seat crossovers can't match. Despite the high mileage, Tesla’s dual-motor powertrain is engineered for longevity with fewer moving parts than combustion rivals, making it a robust choice for inter-emirate commuting. The 100D trim provides the ideal range buffer for long highway stretches between Dubai and Abu Dhabi, ensuring you aren't limited to city driving. For a buyer looking to transition to electric without sacrificing the utility of a full-sized SUV, this Model X offers the brand's most iconic features in a proven package.

This Car vs Other 2017 Model Xs

While 204,500 km is above the global average, it reflects the typical high-utilization highway driving seen in the GCC where annual distances often exceed 25,000 km. In the local used market, black is a high-demand color that preserves value better than brighter alternatives. Compared to typical 2017 units, the maintenance of the battery's thermal management system is a key advantage for cars that have operated in our extreme summer heat.

100D vs Lower Trims

Stepping up to the 100D from the 75D or 90D adds a significant range advantage, utilizing the 100 kWh battery pack to provide peace of mind on longer journeys across the Emirates. This trim also standardizes the Smart Air Suspension with GPS memory, allowing the car to automatically adjust ground clearance for specific steep driveways or speed bumps. Additionally, the 100D benefits from a higher peak charging speed at Superchargers compared to the earlier 90D models.

Model X vs Segment Rivals

The Model X stands apart from rivals like the Audi e-tron and Jaguar I-Pace by offering a specialized six-seat layout and the exclusive Falcon Wing doors for easier access in tight parking spaces. Its primary lead lies in the Supercharger network availability across the GCC, which provides a level of charging infrastructure that third-party networks are still working to match. The massive panoramic windshield also offers superior visibility and cabin airiness compared to the more traditional cockpit designs of its German competitors.

Running Costs & Resale

Operational costs are exceptionally low, as the vehicle bypasses the frequent oil changes and transmission services required by combustion SUVs. Real-world efficiency in GCC stop-start traffic is excellent due to regenerative braking, though range will vary during peak summer when the AC system works at maximum capacity. Resale for GCC-spec Teslas remains strong, depreciating at roughly 12-15% annually, which is competitive for the luxury EV segment. Authorized service centers in Dubai and Abu Dhabi ensure parts and specialized software support are readily available.

Performance & Capability

With a verified 0–100 km/h time of 4.9 seconds, this SUV delivers acceleration that rivals many dedicated sports cars on the Sheikh Zayed Road. The dual-motor All-Wheel Drive system provides instant torque and exceptional grip, which is particularly useful for maintaining stability during occasional heavy rain or on sandy shoulder roads. The adjustable air suspension allows for a maximum ground clearance of approximately 223 mm, providing enough lift for light gravel tracks or navigating high urban curbs.

Comfort & Cabin

The six-seat interior is tailored for GCC families, providing a center aisle that makes the third row much easier to access than in the seven-seat variant. The HEPA filtration system with Bioweapon Defense Mode is a standout feature for the region, effectively scrubbing dust and allergens from the desert air before they enter the cabin. Despite the heat, the expansive glass roof is heavily tinted to block UV rays, and the powerful climate control system is designed to precool the cabin via the mobile app before you even step inside.

Safety

The 2017 Model X is equipped with a comprehensive suite of active safety technologies, including emergency braking and collision avoidance systems that are essential for fast-moving highway traffic. It features eight cameras and twelve ultrasonic sensors providing a 360-degree field of view to assist with parking and blind-spot monitoring. The low center of gravity, caused by the floor-mounted battery pack, significantly reduces the rollover risk compared to traditional high-profile SUVs.

The bottom line

This is a high-utility, long-range electric SUV for a buyer who values the unique Falcon Wing design and the reliability of a GCC-spec vehicle with a full service history. It represents a practical way to enter the Tesla ecosystem with the largest available battery for this model year.
