Summary

This 2018 Bentley Bentayga represents a sophisticated entry point into ultra-luxury SUV ownership, offering a perfect balance between performance and daily usability. With mileage that reflects a well-utilized but carefully maintained life on the road, it sits comfortably within the expected use range for a vehicle of this caliber in the GCC. The black exterior is highly coveted in the local market, ensuring it retains a timeless aesthetic and strong resale appeal compared to more niche colors. Powered by a 4.0L V8 engine producing 542 hp, this model offers a more agile and modern driving experience than the heavier W12 variants, making it ideal for the fast-paced urban environment of Dubai or Riyadh. For the discerning buyer, the combination of a hand-assembled interior and a robust mechanical platform creates a unique opportunity to own a prestige vehicle that handles the summer heat with ease. This specific listing stands out for its well-documented Japanese regional origin, often associated with meticulous maintenance standards and high specification levels.

This Car vs Other 2018 Bentaygas

When compared to other 2018 models in the local used market, this vehicle shows an average annual usage of approximately 14,000 km, which is actually lower than the GCC average of 20,000 km for premium SUVs. This indicates the vehicle hasn't been subjected to excessive long-haul cross-border travel that many high-mileage examples see in this region. The black exterior is the most sought-after color for the Bentayga in the UAE and Saudi Arabia, typically leading to faster sale times and narrower negotiation margins at resale. Being a Japanese spec vehicle, it likely benefitted from a climate more temperate than the GCC for part of its life, which can be a significant advantage for the longevity of rubber seals and interior leather quality. While GCC spec is the local benchmark, Japanese imports are highly regarded for their technical condition and often feature higher-grade interior finishes. This specific example bridges the gap between a collector's item and a daily driver, offering the best of both worlds.

STD vs Lower Trims

The 'STD' or standard trim for the V8 Bentayga is anything but basic, serving as the high-performance benchmark for the V8 range. Unlike the diesel or hybrid variants, this 4.0L V8 trim provides the twin-turbo petrol punch that most GCC buyers demand for highway overtakes and prestige. It includes key features that are essential for the local climate, such as multi-zone climate control with powerful cooling capacity and high-grade leather upholstery that remains comfortable during the summer. You get the 360-degree camera system as standard, which is indispensable for navigating the tight parking spaces of luxury malls in the city. The audio system in this trim is a significant step up from standard luxury SUVs, featuring premium acoustics designed to drown out road noise during high-speed highway cruising. Furthermore, the adjustable air suspension included in this trim level ensures a magic-carpet ride regardless of whether you are on the Sheikh Zayed Road or traversing smoother gravel paths.

Bentayga vs Segment Rivals

The Bentayga competes in the highest tier of the SUV market against the likes of the Rolls-Royce Cullinan and the Lamborghini Urus. Compared to the Urus, the Bentley offers a much more refined and quieter cabin, making it better suited for the long, quiet drives between Abu Dhabi and Dubai. While the Range Rover Autobiography is a common alternative, the Bentley provides a significantly higher level of exclusivity and a hand-built feel that mass-produced SUVs simply cannot match. Its fuel tank capacity is generous, ensuring fewer stops during cross-country drives across the Emirates or into Oman. The 542 hp output allows it to maintain the pace of high-end sports cars while offering the elevated seating position and presence of a full-sized SUV. It also provides a more traditional sense of British luxury that appeals to corporate executives and collectors alike, whereas many rivals have moved toward a more digital-heavy, less tactile interior.

Running Costs & Resale

Owning a 4.0L V8 Bentley in the GCC is a surprisingly manageable experience if maintained at authorized service centers located in major hubs like Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Jeddah. The V8 engine is a proven platform shared with other high-performance brands, ensuring that parts availability is excellent and mechanics are well-versed in its maintenance. Real-world fuel consumption for the 542 hp engine averages around 12 to 14 L/100km on the highway, though city stop-start traffic in Riyadh or Dubai will see these figures rise. Service intervals are typically every 15,000 km or 12 months, which is standard for the region's harsh conditions. Depreciation for the Bentayga has stabilized after the initial five-year period, making this 2018 model a smart financial choice as much of the rapid value drop has already occurred. While European luxury cars generally see a 15% annual depreciation in the UAE, the Bentayga's strong brand identity helps it hold value better than many of its German counterparts.

Performance & Capability

The headline figure for this SUV is its 542 hp and 770 Nm of torque, which allows this 2.4-ton vehicle to sprint from 0-100 km/h in just 4.5 seconds. This performance is especially useful on the high-speed highways of the GCC, where merging into fast-moving traffic requires immediate power. The All Wheel Drive system is not just for snow; it provides exceptional traction on the sandy shoulders of desert roads and during the rare but heavy rainstorms seen in the UAE. Top speed is rated at 290 km/h, though its true strength lies in its effortless cruising at 120-140 km/h with almost zero engine vibration or noise. The air suspension offers several ground clearance modes, allowing you to raise the vehicle when approaching uneven terrain during a weekend at a desert resort. Despite its luxury focus, the Bentayga is a capable tow vehicle, easily handling boat trailers or horse boxes for sporting enthusiasts across the region.

Comfort & Cabin

Inside, the Bentayga is a sanctuary of wood, leather, and metal, meticulously crafted to block out the exterior environment. The five-seat layout provides ample legroom for rear passengers, making it a viable choice for families who prioritize comfort on long road trips. The air conditioning system is designed to meet extreme requirements, cooling the large cabin quickly even after the car has been parked in the 45-degree sun. Double-glazed windows provide superior heat insulation and keep the cabin whisper-quiet even at high speeds. The seats are highly adjustable and provide support for long hours of driving, a necessity for those who frequently commute between emirates. The infotainment system, while classic, is intuitive and integrates well with the high-end audio setup to provide a lounge-like atmosphere. Every touchpoint, from the knurled metal vents to the soft-touch leather dashboard, reminds you that this is a vehicle built to the highest standards in the world.

Safety

Safety in the Bentayga is comprehensive, featuring a suite of advanced driver assistance systems that are highly beneficial for the region's specific driving challenges. Adaptive cruise control makes the long stretches of desert highway less taxing by maintaining a safe distance from leading vehicles automatically. The blind-spot monitoring system is essential for the multi-lane highways of the UAE, where high-speed lane changes are frequent. It also features a robust stability control system that has been tuned to handle various grip levels, including dusty or sandy road surfaces. With a 5-Star NCAP safety rating, the vehicle offers exceptional crash protection for all five occupants through a series of tactical air bags and a reinforced body structure. It provides a sense of security and solidity that is paramount when traveling with family at highway speeds.

The bottom line

This 2018 Bentley Bentayga is a rare find that combines the prestige of the Bentley brand with the practical advantages of a V8 engine and a highly desirable color. It is an ideal choice for a buyer looking to step into the ultra-luxury segment with a vehicle that is as capable on a long family road trip as it is arriving at a five-star hotel.
