Summary

This 2018 Mercedes-AMG G63 is a powerful example of the legendary W463 generation, featuring the desirable 5.5L biturbo V8 before the transition to the smaller 4.0L displacement. With approximately 70,500 km, it sits comfortably below the average annual mileage expected in the GCC, offering significant mechanical longevity for the next owner. The grey exterior is a highly liquid and heat-resilient choice for the UAE market, ensuring strong resale demand compared to less conventional palettes. As a Japanese spec import, this vehicle benefits from the strict maintenance standards of its home market while remaining fully compatible with the UAE’s premium service networks. It represents a final-year opportunity to own the original, rugged body-on-frame design that defined the G-Wagon’s global icon status.

This Car vs Other 2018 G63 AMGs

With just over 70,500 km on the clock, this G63 has averaged roughly 11,000 km per year, which is significantly lower than the typical 20,000–25,000 km annual use seen in the UAE. The grey exterior is a top-tier resale color in the GCC, offering a sophisticated look that holds value better than brighter or non-metallic alternatives. Being a Japanese spec vehicle, it offers an attractive entry point to G63 ownership while maintaining the high mechanical standards local buyers demand.

STANDARD vs Lower Trims

The AMG G63 serves as the performance flagship, adding the handcrafted 5.5L V8 biturbo engine and the AMG Speedshift Plus 7G-TRONIC transmission over the standard G500. This trim includes the performance-tuned exhaust system with side-exit pipes and a high-performance braking system that are essential for the GCC's fast-paced highway driving. Inside, it features a higher grade of leather and carbon fiber trim options that distinguish it as the top-tier offering in the G-Class lineup.

G63 AMG vs Segment Rivals

Compared to the Range Rover SVR or the Porsche Cayenne Turbo, the G63 offers unmatched off-road hardware including three independent locking differentials and a heavy-duty body-on-frame construction. It features a large 96-litre fuel tank, providing superior range for long cross-border drives between GCC cities compared to more road-biased performance SUVs. While rivals prioritize lap times, the G63 leads in presence, durability, and specialized desert capability.

Running Costs & Resale

The G63 is renowned for having some of the strongest value retention in the UAE used market, typically depreciating at a slower rate than its European luxury peers. Real-world fuel consumption averages around 13.8 L/100km, reflecting the powerful V8's requirements in stop-start city traffic and sustained highway cruising. Service intervals are generally every 15,000 km, and with the extensive Mercedes-Benz authorized network across the GCC, maintenance and parts availability are highly reliable even for Japanese spec models.

Performance & Capability

The hand-built 5.5L V8 delivers 530 hp and a massive 760 Nm of torque, allowing this heavy SUV to reach 100 km/h in just 5.4 seconds. Its mechanical 4WD system, complete with low-range gearing and three locks, makes it one of the few luxury vehicles genuinely capable of tackling deep desert dunes. On the highway, the bi-xenon headlamps and commanding seating position provide excellent visibility and confidence for long-distance travel.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is designed to provide a cool sanctuary from the GCC summer, featuring a robust multi-zone climate control system and high-quality leather seating for five. This model includes a premium Harman Kardon Logic 7 surround sound system and the COMAND infotainment platform with navigation, ideal for navigating the UAE's evolving road network. The acoustic glass and heavy door seals help insulate passengers from road noise and desert heat during long midday drives.

Safety

Standard safety features include Blind Spot Assist and Distronic Plus adaptive cruise control, which are vital for safety on high-speed multi-lane highways like the E11. The vehicle is equipped with a comprehensive airbag system, electronic stability program (ESP), and trailer stability assist for those utilizing its 3,500 kg towing capacity. The permanent all-wheel-drive system ensures maximum traction on both rain-slicked city roads and loose gravel tracks.

The bottom line

For the buyer who wants the classic G-Wagon silhouette paired with the legendary 5.5L V8, this low-mileage Japanese spec listing offers the perfect balance of iconic status and maintained quality.
