• 93-litre fuel tank standard

Summary

This Mercedes-Benz GLE43 AMG offers a compelling balance of performance and practicality for the GCC driver, featuring a black exterior that consistently leads resale demand in the UAE market. With mileage significantly below the average for a 2018 model in this region, it represents a well-preserved opportunity for buyers seeking the AMG badge without the extreme running costs of a V8. The biturbo V6 provides the necessary punch for fast-moving highway traffic, while the All-Wheel Drive system ensures stability during sudden desert rain or sand-dusted roads. It stands out as a sophisticated daily driver that bridges the gap between standard luxury SUVs and high-performance machines. For the local buyer, this spec offers the prestige of a modern Mercedes with the proven reliability of the 9G-TRONIC transmission.

This Car vs Other 2018 GLE43 AMGs

At 65,174 km, this vehicle has been driven approximately 10,800 km per year, which is exceptionally low compared to the GCC average of 20,000–25,000 km for premium SUVs. The black exterior is the most sought-after color for resale in the local market, ensuring it retains value better than brighter alternatives. Being an American spec vehicle, it offers the same mechanical performance as local variants but requires a verified inspection to ensure all software and navigation units are updated for GCC use.

STANDARD vs Lower Trims

The AMG GLE43 serves as a major performance leap over the GLE350, adding the biturbo V6 engine and an AMG-enhanced 9G-TRONIC transmission. This trim includes the AMG Dynamic Select system with multiple driving modes and a sport-tuned AIRMATIC suspension as standard, features that are often optional on lower trims. You also benefit from standard 20-inch wheels and a more aggressive AMG body styling package that significantly enhances its road presence.

GLE43 AMG vs Segment Rivals

The GLE43 AMG competes directly with the BMW X5 xDrive40i and the Porsche Cayenne. It leads the segment with a massive 93-litre fuel tank, providing superior range for long-distance drives across the Emirates compared to its rivals. While the BMW focuses on agility, the Mercedes offers a more composed and insulated cabin, which is better suited for the high-temperature highway cruising common in the GCC.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption averages 10.5 L/100km, making it more efficient for city commuting than the larger GLE63. Service intervals are typically every 15,000 km in the UAE, with a vast network of authorized centers available in every major city from Dubai to Muscat. While American spec cars depreciate slightly faster than GCC spec, the exceptionally low mileage on this specific unit acts as a strong hedge against typical annual depreciation of 12–15%.

Performance & Capability

The 390 hp biturbo engine delivers a 0–100 km/h time of 5.7 seconds, ensuring effortless overtaking on fast highways like the E11. Its 4MATIC All-Wheel Drive system is tuned for road performance but provides excellent grip on loose sand and gravel during weekend outings. With five distinct driving modes, the car can transition from a comfortable family cruiser to a sharp performance SUV at the touch of a button.

Comfort & Cabin

The five-seat cabin is designed for long-distance comfort, featuring high-quality insulation that keeps the interior quiet even at high highway speeds. The climate control system is robust enough to handle the 45°C+ GCC summers, ensuring rapid cooling for all passengers. Premium materials and the intuitive COMAND infotainment system provide a luxury experience that rivals newer models in the segment.

Safety

This trim comes standard with a comprehensive safety suite, including Pre-Safe technology and Attention Assist, which are vital for long desert drives. It also features Active Brake Assist and blind-spot monitoring, providing essential protection in the fast-paced, multi-lane traffic environments of Dubai and Riyadh. The 4MATIC system works in tandem with Electronic Stability Programming to maintain traction on varying GCC road surfaces.

The bottom line

This is an ideal choice for the professional seeking a low-mileage, high-performance SUV that holds its value through a popular color and prestige trim. It offers the perfect mix of AMG thrills and daily usability in a market where road presence is everything.
