Mercedes Benz S63 AMG STANDARD

Highlights

• 0–100 km/h in 3.5 seconds
• Hand-built 4.0L V8 biturbo engine
• AMG Performance 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive

Summary

This S63 AMG marks a significant era for the flagship sedan, featuring the highly desirable 4.0L V8 biturbo that replaced the older 5.5L unit. As a Japanese spec vehicle, it offers an attractive entry point into high-performance luxury, typically showing pride of ownership through meticulously maintained interiors. White remains the most sought-after resale color across the UAE and Saudi Arabia, effectively offsetting the typical depreciation seen in European performance models. For the GCC buyer, this car delivers an unmatched blend of executive presence and supercar-level acceleration that holds its own on fast-moving highways like the E11.

This Car vs Other 2018 S63 AMGs

With 142,000 km over 8 years, this car has averaged approximately 17,750 km per year, which is significantly lower than the GCC average of 20,000–25,000 km. This below-average usage suggests the mechanical components have faced less stress than typical local examples. The white exterior is a primary value driver in the regional used market, ensuring faster resale and better heat reflection during the peak summer months.

STANDARD vs Lower Trims

Choosing the S63 AMG over the S560 adds the handcrafted V8 engine and the 9-speed MCT transmission for lightning-fast shifts. This trim includes the Burmester Surround Sound system and ventilated Nappa leather seats as standard, features that are essential for comfort during long desert drives. You also gain the aggressive AMG body styling and larger air intakes designed to improve cooling performance in high-temperature environments.

S63 AMG vs Segment Rivals

The S63 AMG leads the BMW 760Li and Audi S8 in raw acceleration, with its 3.5-second 0–100 km/h time setting the benchmark for the class. Its 4MATIC+ system is more rear-biased and playful than rivals, offering a more engaging drive while maintaining superior stability on sandy or rain-slicked roads. Furthermore, the S-Class cabin remains the regional standard for insulation, providing a quieter environment during high-speed highway cruising.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption averages around 8.9 L/100km on the highway, aided by cylinder deactivation technology, though city driving in heavy Dubai or Riyadh traffic will see this increase. As a Japanese spec import, buyers should ensure the infotainment and navigation have been updated for regional maps. While these imports offer a price advantage, maintaining a consistent service history at specialized European workshops across the UAE will help preserve its long-term market value.

Performance & Capability

The 585 hp V8 produces a massive 900 Nm of torque, allowing for effortless overtaking at any speed. The 4MATIC+ all-wheel-drive system is fully variable, automatically shifting power to the wheels with the most grip to ensure composed handling through sharp bends. With the AMG Ride Control+ air suspension, the car can transition from a pillowy executive cruiser to a focused performance machine at the touch of a button.

Comfort & Cabin

The four-seat configuration provides an exclusive first-class experience for all occupants, featuring deep-bolstered AMG sport seats with heating and ventilation. The dual 12.3-inch widescreen displays create a seamless digital cockpit, complemented by 64-color ambient lighting that transforms the cabin atmosphere at night. Advanced acoustic glass and heavy insulation ensure the intense GCC heat and road noise stay outside, maintaining a serene environment for all passengers.

Safety

This S63 is equipped with a comprehensive suite of safety tech, including Active Brake Assist, Blind Spot Assist, and Lane Keeping Assist, which are vital for navigating fast-moving multi-lane highways. The PRE-SAFE system can detect an impending collision and tighten belts or close windows in milliseconds to protect occupants. Additionally, the 360-degree camera system makes parking this long-wheelbase sedan effortless in tight urban spaces.

The bottom line

For the enthusiast who wants the peak of Mercedes-AMG engineering at a competitive price, this well-maintained Japanese spec S63 is the ideal choice for long-distance GCC touring.
