• 0–100 km/h in 6.2 seconds
• Extensive GCC authorised service network

Summary

This 2018 Maxima offers a compelling blend of Japanese reliability and six-cylinder performance that few modern four-cylinder rivals can match. With 127,000 km, its mileage sits right at the expected average for a well-maintained GCC highway commuter, where robust engines like this 3.5L V6 are built for longevity. The black exterior remains a top-tier choice for resale in the local market, ensuring it stays desirable when it is time to upgrade. As a sports-oriented sedan, it bridges the gap between a family car and a driver's machine, making it a versatile choice for those who value highway overtaking power. For the GCC buyer, the Maxima’s reputation for durable cooling systems and widespread parts availability makes it a low-stress ownership proposition.

This Car vs Other 2018 Maximas

At 127,000 km, this vehicle has covered approximately 18,000 km per year, which is comfortably below the typical 20,000–25,000 km average seen for highway-driven cars in the UAE and Saudi Arabia. This usage indicates a car that has been driven regularly without being overworked, a significant benefit for its VQ-series engine. The black finish is a high-demand resale color in the region, traditionally holding its value better than more niche metallic shades.

SV vs Lower Trims

The SV trim is a significant step up from the base S model, introducing leather upholstery and heated front seats which add a layer of premium comfort. It also adds essential parking aids like front and rear sonar sensors, which are invaluable in tight city parking. The upgraded driver seat with power lumbar and extendable thigh support provides much better ergonomics for long-distance drives across the Emirates.

Maxima vs Segment Rivals

The Maxima leads rivals like the Toyota Camry and Honda Accord by offering a standard 300 hp V6, providing a smoother and more authoritative power delivery than the smaller turbocharged engines found in competitors. Its 68-litre fuel tank ensures fewer stops on long cross-border drives compared to compact executive sedans. Additionally, its 'sports sedan' chassis tuning offers a more engaging drive than the softer, comfort-biased suspension found in the Toyota Avalon.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption averages around 9.6 to 10.4 L/100km, which is efficient for a high-output V6 during steady highway cruising between cities. Nissan's authorized service network is one of the most robust in the GCC, with specialized centers available from Dubai to Muscat. While American spec vehicles may have different initial warranty terms, the shared mechanical platform with local models ensures parts are widely available and affordable at any independent garage. The Maxima typically sees a stable depreciation rate of approximately 10-12% annually in the local market.

Performance & Capability

The 300 hp VQ-series engine allows for a 0–100 km/h sprint in just 6.2 seconds, offering the kind of acceleration usually reserved for premium European sedans. On the wide highways of the UAE, this translates to effortless overtaking and stable high-speed cruising. The Xtronic CVT is specifically tuned for this V6 to provide 'D-Step' shifting logic, simulating traditional gear changes for a more connected feel during spirited driving.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin features a driver-centric cockpit angled at 7 degrees, paired with a flat-bottom steering wheel for a sporty aesthetic. Standard dual-zone climate control is engineered to handle extreme summer heat, while the leather-appointed interior offers a durable and easy-to-clean environment for families. Integration for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto ensures modern connectivity is seamless for every journey.

Safety

Standard safety tech for this year includes Forward Collision Warning and Automatic Emergency Braking, providing a vital layer of protection in fast-moving highway traffic. The SV trim further enhances safety with front and rear parking sensors to prevent low-speed collisions. These active systems, combined with a comprehensive airbag suite, ensure the Maxima remains one of the safer choices in the mid-size sedan category.

The bottom line

Perfect for the professional who needs a fast, reliable commuter that can double as a comfortable family car, this Maxima SV represents a smart buy for those who want V6 power without the premium maintenance costs of a luxury brand.
