Summary

This 2018 Nissan Maxima SV offers a compelling blend of sports sedan performance and premium comfort, making it a standout choice in the pre-owned market. With its distinctive black exterior, which remains a high-demand resale color in the GCC, and average mileage for its age, this vehicle is perfectly suited for both daily city commutes and long highway stretches. The SV trim elevates the driving experience with leather upholstery and improved driver support compared to the base model. Nissan’s reputation for reliability and the widespread availability of parts across the region ensure low stress for long-term ownership. For a buyer seeking a powerful 6-cylinder engine without the price tag of a European luxury brand, this Maxima is a top-tier contender.

This Car vs Other 2018 Maximas

With 127,000 km, this Maxima sits comfortably within the expected range for a six-year-old vehicle in the GCC, where annual averages typically reach 20,000 to 25,000 km due to highway-heavy driving. The black exterior is a primary choice for local resale, ensuring it remains desirable for future buyers. As an American spec model, it offers the same high-output powertrain found in local versions but often includes distinct tech features tailored for ease of use.

SV vs Lower Trims

The SV trim is a significant step up from the base S model, introducing full leather-appointed seating and heated front seats that provide a more premium cabin atmosphere. Drivers benefit from an upgraded seat design featuring a manual thigh support extension and power lumbar support, which are essential for comfort during long inter-city drives. Additionally, the SV adds front and rear parking sensors as standard, making navigation in tight urban spaces significantly safer.

Maxima vs Segment Rivals

The Nissan Maxima consistently leads rivals like the Toyota Avalon and Honda Accord in horsepower, offering a more driver-focused '4-door sports car' feel. Its 3.5L V6 is celebrated for its smooth power delivery compared to the turbocharged four-cylinders often found in newer competitors. For the GCC buyer, the Maxima's aggressive styling and driver-centric cockpit provide a level of sportiness that most full-size sedans in this price bracket cannot match.

Running Costs & Resale

The 2018 Maxima delivers a combined fuel consumption of approximately 9.6 L/100km, performing efficiently on the open highway while remaining manageable in GCC stop-start traffic. Nissan maintains one of the most robust service networks across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait, ensuring that maintenance is affordable and parts are readily available. While American spec cars may have different warranty considerations, the Maxima generally experiences a steady depreciation curve of 8-10% annually, holding its value better than many European rivals in the local market.

Performance & Capability

Boasting a 300 hp V6 engine, the Maxima provides effortless highway overtaking and a top speed of 211 km/h. It accelerates from 0–100 km/h in just 6.4 seconds, outperforming many standard executive sedans. The Drive Mode Selector allows you to sharpen throttle response and steering feel when you want a more engaging drive, while the Xtronic CVT is optimized for high-speed cruising across the Emirates.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is designed around the driver with 'Zero Gravity' seats that reduce fatigue during long desert highway journeys. Standard dual-zone automatic climate control is powerful enough to handle extreme summer heat, while the leather-wrapped steering wheel and ambient lighting add a touch of luxury. Technology is well-integrated with a standard 8-inch touchscreen featuring Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for seamless navigation and media control.

Safety

Safety is a priority with standard Intelligent Forward Collision Warning and Automatic Emergency Braking, which are highly effective for fast-moving highway traffic. This Maxima also features front and rear parking sensors and a rearview camera to assist in visibility. With a 5-star safety rating from the NHTSA, it offers comprehensive protection through its advanced airbag system and vehicle dynamic control, ensuring stability on both tarmac and sand-dusted roads.

The bottom line

Perfect for the professional who values performance and a premium feel, this Maxima SV is a smart opportunity to own a high-output sports sedan with proven reliability in the GCC market.
