Summary

This 2018 Toyota Land Cruiser 79 LX is a collector-grade example of the world's most trusted mechanical workhorse, showing just 4,000 km from new. Finished in Beige—the most sought-after resale color for this model in the UAE—it represents a rare opportunity to own a nearly-new 70 Series before the latest generation’s shift in design. As a GCC-spec single-cab pickup with the 4.0L V6, it offers the perfect balance of legendary reliability and high demand in the local used market. For a buyer in the Gulf, there is simply no vehicle more suited to the extreme heat and desert terrain of the region. This is likely one of the lowest-mileage 2018 units currently available in the Middle East.

This Car vs Other 2018 Land Cruiser 70s

With just 4,000 km on the odometer, this vehicle has covered less than a quarter of the typical annual mileage for a GCC-based car. Most 2018 models in the region have been heavily used for commercial or desert duties, making this low-mileage example a significant outlier. The Beige exterior is the gold standard for resale in the UAE and Saudi Arabia, ensuring it will hold its value better than almost any other configuration.

LC79 LX vs Lower Trims

The LX trim elevates the 70 Series from a basic tool to a more comfortable daily companion, adding essential features like power windows and central locking which are often absent on base Workmate grades. It specifically includes 16-inch alloy wheels and chrome exterior accents that GCC buyers look for. Inside, you benefit from upgraded fabric seating and a wood-grain finish on the dashboard that provides a premium feel absent in the standard utility trims.

Land Cruiser 70 vs Segment Rivals

While the Nissan Patrol Super Safari offers more on-road comfort, the Land Cruiser 79 remains the leader in pure mechanical durability and payload capability. Its body-on-frame construction and heavy-duty leaf-spring rear suspension are specifically designed for the high-stress environments of GCC farms and desert expeditions. Compared to modern mid-size pickups, the Land Cruiser offers a much larger 130-litre fuel capacity, essential for long-distance desert touring.

Running Costs & Resale

The 1GR-FE 4.0L V6 engine typically sees a combined fuel consumption of approximately 14.4 L/100km, which is standard for a heavy-duty 4x4 in GCC stop-start traffic. Maintenance is exceptionally straightforward, with service intervals every 10,000 km and an authorized service network that is the most extensive in the region, including remote parts of Oman and Saudi Arabia. The 70 Series boasts one of the lowest depreciation rates in the UAE, often retaining over 85% of its value after three years.

Performance & Capability

The 200 hp V6 engine provides high torque at low RPMs, paired with a 5-speed manual transmission that gives the driver total control in soft sand. Its 3,500 kg braked towing capacity makes it a premier choice for hauling boats or trailers between emirates. With a manual low-range transfer case and a 218 mm ground clearance, this pickup is built to traverse terrain that would stop most modern SUVs.

Comfort & Cabin

The two-seat cabin is designed for functionality and longevity in high temperatures, featuring a powerful air conditioning system that is world-renowned for its performance in 50°C heat. This LX trim includes a cooled glovebox or center console area, perfect for keeping drinks chilled during long summer drives. The seating is positioned high to provide excellent visibility over the hood, a critical advantage when navigating dunes or tight worksites.

Safety

Safety is focused on mechanical robustness, featuring a heavy-duty ladder-frame chassis that provides a protective cage for occupants. Standard equipment on this GCC LX trim includes dual front airbags and an Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with ventilated discs for reliable stopping power on fast-moving highways. The addition of side-impact beams in the doors offers extra peace of mind during city commutes.

The bottom line

This is a rare, collector-quality workhorse for the buyer who wants the legendary 70 Series experience in 'as-new' condition with the region's best resale configuration.
