Summary

This 2018 Toyota Land Cruiser VXR is a standout opportunity in the GCC market, featuring the highly sought-after 5.7L V8 engine that has since been discontinued in newer generations. With only 83,500 km, this vehicle has been driven significantly less than the regional average for its age, making it a prime candidate for long-term ownership. The black exterior is a high-demand resale color in the UAE and Saudi Arabia, perfectly complementing the VXR’s premium chrome accents. As the flagship trim, it offers a level of refinement that holds its value exceptionally well against rivals like the Nissan Patrol. For any buyer prioritizing mechanical bulletproof reliability and desert-proven capability, this Land Cruiser remains the definitive choice for the region.

This Car vs Other 2018 Land Cruisers

With just 83,500 km on the clock, this Land Cruiser has averaged roughly 14,000 km per year, well below the typical GCC annual average of 25,000 km. This low-usage profile is a significant advantage for a vehicle often used for heavy commuting between emirates. The black paintwork is one of the most resilient colors for resale in the local market, ensuring higher liquidity compared to niche colors.

VXR vs Lower Trims

The VXR trim is a substantial upgrade over the GXR, adding essential GCC comforts such as ventilated front seats and a more sophisticated 4-zone climate control system. It also features a superior 14-speaker JBL audio system and the full suite of off-road hardware, including the Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System (KDSS) for improved on-road stability and off-road articulation.

Land Cruiser vs Segment Rivals

Compared to the Nissan Patrol Y62, the Land Cruiser 5.7L offers superior historical value retention and a more extensive service network across smaller GCC towns. While rivals may offer slightly more modern infotainment, the Land Cruiser leads in heavy-duty durability and the ease of sourcing genuine parts from Kuwait to Oman.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the 5.7L V8 typically averages 15.6 L/100km in mixed GCC conditions, though highway cruising is remarkably efficient for a vehicle of this size. As a GCC-spec Toyota, it benefits from 10,000 km service intervals at authorized centers available in every major city. This model is legendary for its slow depreciation, often retaining over 65% of its value even after five years of use.

Performance & Capability

The 362 hp V8 provides effortless torque for highway overtaking and navigating deep desert dunes. The inclusion of Crawl Control and Multi-Terrain Select allows even novice drivers to tackle challenging terrains like Liwa or Fossil Rock with confidence. Its body-on-frame construction ensures it can handle the stress of frequent off-road excursions without compromising long-term structural integrity.

Comfort & Cabin

Inside, the VXR cabin is designed to shield eight passengers from the extreme GCC heat with powerful rear AC vents and insulated acoustic glass. The perforated leather seats are both heated and ventilated, providing immediate relief during summer months. The layout remains practical for large families, featuring a refrigerated center console box for keeping beverages cold on long desert drives.

Safety

This VXR trim includes the comprehensive Toyota Safety Sense suite, featuring Adaptive Cruise Control and Lane Departure Alert which are invaluable for long stretches of highway like the E11. It is equipped with 10 airbags and a 360-degree camera system to assist with parking such a large vehicle in tight urban environments.

The bottom line

This is the ideal purchase for a family or enthusiast seeking a low-mileage, flagship V8 Land Cruiser before they become increasingly rare in the used market.
