Summary

This 2019 BMW 740Li Pure Excellence represents the peak of executive travel, offering a significant facelift upgrade with a more imposing exterior and refined interior technology. While this specific unit is an American specification, it provides an accessible entry point into the flagship luxury segment compared to its GCC-spec counterparts. The Pure Excellence trim emphasizes chrome detailing and enhanced cabin materials, making it a standout for professionals who prioritize presence on the road. With its smooth inline-six engine, it balances effortless highway cruising between emirates with respectable fuel efficiency for a vehicle of this stature. This is a compelling option for those seeking the 7 Series experience with the benefit of the latest G12-generation styling updates.

This Car vs Other 2019 740Lis

At 135,000 km, this vehicle sits slightly above the average annual mileage for a premium sedan in the GCC, suggesting it has spent much of its life on the open highway where these engines are at their most efficient. The white exterior is the most sought-after color for resale in the local market, helping to offset the depreciation typical of non-regional specs. As a 2019 facelift model, it carries the larger kidney grille and updated light clusters that ensure it looks current alongside newer BMW models.

PURE EXCELLENCE vs Lower Trims

The Pure Excellence trim adds a higher level of luxury over the standard 740Li, featuring distinct chrome exterior accents, refined bumper designs, and higher-grade Nappa leather upholstery as standard. Inside, this trim typically includes a leather-wrapped dashboard and fine-wood interior trim that creates a far more executive atmosphere than the base models. It also benefits from standard four-zone automatic climate control and the BMW Live Cockpit Professional, which are essential for navigating the local summer heat and urban traffic.

740Li vs Segment Rivals

The BMW 740Li leads the Mercedes-Benz S-Class and Audi A8 in driver engagement, offering a more responsive steering feel and a lightweight carbon-core chassis that improves agility. Its 3.0-litre B58 engine is widely regarded as one of the most reliable and efficient in the luxury segment, providing a better balance of daily running costs than the V8 alternatives. The extra legroom of the 'Li' long-wheelbase variant ensures rear passengers enjoy space that rivals a private jet, a key differentiator in this executive class.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the 740Li averages around 7.2 to 9.7 L/100km, which is efficient for a long-wheelbase sedan, though city traffic in Riyadh or Dubai will see higher figures. As an American spec vehicle, it attracts a lower initial purchase price, but buyers should note that resale value in the GCC typically sits 15-25% lower than GCC-spec equivalents. BMW has an extensive authorized service network across the UAE and Saudi Arabia, though certain US-specific electronic components may require specialist sourcing.

Performance & Capability

The turbocharged 3.0L engine delivers a refined 322 hp and 450 Nm of torque, enabling a swift 0–100 km/h sprint in just 5.6 seconds. This power is managed by a smooth 8-speed Steptronic transmission that provides seamless gear changes, making high-speed highway overtaking effortless. The standard adaptive air suspension constantly adjusts to road conditions, ensuring a 'magic carpet' ride quality even on the varied road surfaces found across the region.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is a sanctuary of quiet, thanks to acoustic glazing and extensive soundproofing that isolates occupants from wind and road noise. Rear passengers benefit from dedicated climate zones and ample legroom, while the front features 10-way power-adjustable heated seats for maximum comfort on long drives. The 2019 facelift brings the latest iDrive system with gesture control and a digital instrument cluster, keeping the technology feeling modern and intuitive.

Safety

This 740Li comes equipped with a comprehensive suite of active safety systems, including forward collision warning, blind-spot monitoring, and lane departure warning, which are invaluable on fast-moving GCC highways. The vehicle is built around a high-strength carbon core and features multiple airbags to provide exceptional structural protection for all occupants. Parking in tight urban spaces is made easier by front and rear parking sensors and a standard high-resolution rearview camera.

The bottom line

For the executive buyer looking for the prestige and technology of a facelifted 7 Series at a competitive price, this American-spec 740Li is a strategic choice that delivers flagship luxury without the GCC-spec premium.
