Summary

This 2019 Hyundai Tucson offers a balanced entry into the SUV market, combining the larger 2.4L engine with all-wheel-drive capability for confident handling on varied road surfaces. While its mileage reflects regular highway use, the white exterior remains a top-tier choice for resale value and thermal management in the GCC climate. As a versatile five-seater, it bridges the gap between urban efficiency and the space needed for weekend escapes. This model stands out for its straightforward mechanical reliability and an approachable learning curve for new owners. For the practical GCC buyer, this Tucson represents a durable workhorse backed by one of the region's most accessible service networks.

This Car vs Other 2019 Tucsons

With 162,000 km, this vehicle has seen consistent highway use, which is common for commuters traveling between emirates in the UAE. While this mileage is higher than average, it is paired with the more desirable 2.4L engine over the base 2.0L variants. The white paint is the most practical choice for the GCC, effectively reflecting solar heat and maintaining the highest demand in the secondary market.

GL BASIC vs Lower Trims

The GL Basic trim with the 2.4L engine provides a significant power bump over the entry-level 2.0L trims, delivering 177 hp for better highway overtaking. It maintains essential features like 17-inch alloy wheels and the 7-inch display with smartphone integration, which are highly valued by tech-conscious drivers in the region. Choosing this over the base 2.0L ensures the added safety and stability of an all-wheel-drive system.

Tucson vs Segment Rivals

The Tucson competes directly with the Toyota RAV4 and Honda CR-V, standing out with its competitive 540-litre cargo capacity and a user-friendly infotainment interface. While rivals often command a brand premium, the Tucson offers comparable ground clearance and safety tech at a more accessible price point. Its extensive service network across the GCC gives it a practical edge for owners who travel cross-border to Oman or Saudi Arabia.

Running Costs & Resale

Fuel consumption for the 2.4L AWD variant typically averages around 9.5 L/100km, which is competitive for a vehicle of this size in stop-start city traffic. Hyundai's massive presence in the Middle East ensures that spare parts are affordable and readily available at almost any independent garage or authorized center. The Tucson historically retains roughly 50-55% of its value after five years in the GCC, making it a stable asset for long-term owners.

Performance & Capability

The 177 hp 2.4L engine provides reliable performance for the long highway stretches between GCC cities, reaching a top speed of approximately 185 km/h. With 192 mm of ground clearance and an all-wheel-drive system, it is well-suited for navigating gravel tracks and sandy parking areas common near regional beaches. The six-speed automatic transmission is tuned for smoothness, ensuring comfortable cruising at the high speeds typical of regional motorways.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is designed for family utility, featuring a 60/40 split-folding rear seat that expands the cargo area for large shopping trips or camping gear. Hyundai's air conditioning systems are highly regarded for their ability to cool the cabin quickly during the extreme 45°C+ summer peaks. Despite being a basic trim, the inclusion of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto ensures modern connectivity remains standard for every journey.

Safety

Safety is a priority with a 5-star NHTSA overall rating, providing peace of mind for family transport. Standard features include stability control and traction management, which are vital for maintaining grip on sandy or rain-slicked regional roads. The all-wheel-drive system adds an extra layer of active safety, especially useful during the occasional but heavy seasonal rainstorms seen in the UAE and surrounding areas.

The bottom line

Ideal for the value-driven family or daily commuter, this 2.4L AWD Tucson provides the extra power and stability needed for GCC highways in a highly resale-friendly color.
