Summary

This 2019 Hyundai Veloster N is a standout performance hatchback, delivering high-output thrills in a unique three-door configuration. With its signature Blue finish and Korean regional specifications, it offers a distinct alternative to mainstream rivals like the Golf GTI. The Performance Package engine provides a significant 275 hp, paired with a sharp automatic transmission for effortless daily driving and spirited weekend runs. For the GCC buyer, this model balances modern cabin technology with a mechanical setup that has proven resilient in high-temperature urban environments. Its combination of low weight and high power makes it one of the most engaging front-wheel-drive cars available in the regional used market.

This Car vs Other 2019 Velosters

While many 2019 Velosters in the GCC carry the standard 2.0L or 1.6L Turbo engines, this N model is a completely different animal tuned by Hyundai's high-performance division. The mileage is typical for a five-year-old vehicle in the region, where long-distance highway commutes between emirates are common. Choosing the N trim over the base or Turbo versions ensures you have the most capable and desirable version of the Veloster line.

N vs Lower Trims

The N trim adds critical hardware that lower trims lack, including a variable exhaust valve system for a distinctive sound and an electronic limited-slip differential to improve cornering. Inside, you get N-exclusive sport seats and a dedicated steering wheel with drive-mode selectors. These performance-oriented features, along with the uprated 275 hp engine, significantly enhance its desirability and value retention compared to the 147 hp base model.

Veloster vs Segment Rivals

The Veloster N holds its own against heavyweights like the Volkswagen Golf GTI and Honda Civic Type R by offering a more visceral driving experience and a larger 50-litre fuel tank for fewer stops on long desert roads. Its unique asymmetrical three-door design provides better rear-seat access than traditional coupes while maintaining a tighter, more nimble footprint than the Civic Type R. For the GCC buyer, the Veloster N often represents a more modern tech suite at a more accessible price point than its European rivals.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption averages around 9.4 L/100km, which is efficient for a car with nearly 300 horsepower, especially during steady highway cruising at GCC speeds. Maintenance is straightforward through Hyundai's extensive authorized service network across the UAE and wider GCC, ensuring parts are readily available. As a Korean spec vehicle, it offers a unique equipment list, though buyers should note that resale remains strong for well-maintained N models due to their cult following among local enthusiasts.

Performance & Capability

The Veloster N is built for speed, reaching 100 km/h in just 5.6 seconds with the automatic gearbox. It features a specialized 'N Grin Control' system with five distinct drive modes—Eco, Normal, Sport, N, and N Custom—allowing you to sharpen the throttle and suspension for track-like handling. The 250 km/h top speed ensures it remains composed and powerful during high-speed overtakes on major motorways.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is designed for the driver, featuring an 8-inch touchscreen with integrated smartphone connectivity and a premium audio system. Despite its performance focus, the air conditioning is engineered to handle extreme summer heat, with dedicated venting to keep the four-seat cabin cool. The unique 3-door layout makes it surprisingly practical for small families or carrying gear, providing easy access to the back row from the passenger side.

Safety

Safety is comprehensive on the N trim, featuring Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist and Lane Keeping Assist as standard. Blind-spot monitoring is particularly helpful on the UAE's multi-lane highways, while the rear cross-traffic alert provides extra security in busy urban parking areas. Six airbags and a high-strength chassis ensure that this high-performance hatchback provides peace of mind alongside its speed.

The bottom line

For the enthusiast who wants a modern, high-performance hatchback that stands out from the crowd, this Veloster N offers exceptional power and unique styling in a well-maintained package. It is an ideal choice for a buyer looking for a daily driver that can transform into a precision tool for the weekend.
