Summary

This 2019 Mercedes-Benz CLA 200 represents the first year of the redesigned C118 generation, offering the modern MBUX widescreen interface that still looks current today. With 63,000 km, this example has been driven roughly 12,000 km per year, which is significantly lower than the GCC annual average of 20,000 km. The black exterior is a high-demand choice for resale in the local market, ensuring strong value retention when it is time to upgrade. This model successfully bridges the gap between a compact commuter and a luxury grand tourer, making it ideal for young professionals in Dubai or Riyadh. For GCC buyers, the regional specification ensures the cooling system and electrical components are optimized for the extreme summer heat.

This Car vs Other 2019 CLA 200s

At 63,000 km, this CLA 200 is a low-mileage standout compared to typical 2019 models in the UAE, which often exceed 100,000 km by now. The black finish is among the top three most searched colors in the region, providing a faster path to resale than more niche shades. Being a GCC-spec vehicle, it avoids the insurance and service complications often associated with North American imports.

STANDARD vs Lower Trims

The CLA 200 serves as the entry point to the redesigned generation, but it far outpaces the previous generation's interior with the dual 10.25-inch MBUX displays. Unlike lower-tier A-Class models, the CLA 200 includes the diamond-pattern radiator grille and standard 18-inch wheels that define the Mercedes-Benz coupe aesthetic. It also benefits from Multi-Link rear suspension for superior ride quality on high-speed highways.

CLA 200 vs Segment Rivals

The CLA 200 leads rivals like the Audi A3 Saloon and BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe in pure visual presence with its frameless door windows and sloping roofline. Its 460-litre boot is notably larger than its direct competitors, making it surprisingly practical for weekend getaways between emirates. The MBUX voice control system is also more linguistically intuitive for regional accents than systems found in older rival models.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the 1.4L turbo averages between 5.7 and 6.5 L/100km, offering excellent efficiency for the daily commute from Sharjah or Abu Dhabi. Service intervals are typically every 15,000 km, and Mercedes-Benz maintains one of the strongest authorized service footprints across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Oman. This generation holds its value better than the earlier C117 models, with annual depreciation for well-maintained GCC examples averaging 12-15%.

Performance & Capability

The 1.4-litre turbocharged engine delivers a punchy 163 hp, enabling a 0-100 km/h sprint in a verified 8.2 seconds. This makes highway overtaking effortless on fast-moving roads like the E11, while the 7-speed dual-clutch transmission ensures smooth transitions in stop-start city traffic. With a top speed of 229 km/h, the car remains exceptionally stable and quiet during long-distance drives across the GCC borders.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin features the advanced MBUX widescreen cockpit and 'Artico' leather sports seats designed for long-distance support. For the GCC climate, the dual-zone climate control is engineered to drop cabin temperatures rapidly even after the car has been parked in direct sun. Rear passengers benefit from dedicated cooling vents, a critical feature for summer comfort in the region.

Safety

Standard safety equipment includes Active Brake Assist, which is essential for heavy highway traffic, and Attention Assist to monitor driver fatigue during long desert drives. The car is equipped with a high-resolution rearview camera and multiple airbags as part of its Euro NCAP 5-star safety foundation. Blind Spot Assist is particularly effective on the UAE's multi-lane highways, providing an extra layer of security during frequent lane changes.

The bottom line

This is a low-mileage, GCC-spec example of the modern CLA generation, offering the perfect entry point into Mercedes-Benz ownership for a style-conscious buyer who prioritizes tech and resale security.
