Summary

This 2019 Mercedes-Benz CLS53 AMG represents a sophisticated entry into the high-performance four-door coupe segment, perfectly balancing executive luxury with genuine AMG DNA. With its Japanese regional specification, this unit often features higher-tier cabin finishes and has been meticulously maintained before arriving in the UAE market. The 48-volt mild-hybrid system provides seamless low-end torque, making it exceptionally responsive in the stop-start traffic of Dubai or Riyadh while remaining efficient on long highway runs. Black remains one of the most desirable colors in the GCC, ensuring strong resale demand and a timeless aesthetic. For a buyer seeking the visual drama of a coupe with the everyday usability of a four-door sedan, this CLS53 is a compelling choice that stands out from the standard executive crowd.

This Car vs Other 2019 CLS53 AMGs

With 106,000 km on the odometer, this vehicle sits at an average mileage for a 2019 model in the GCC, where annual driving typically reaches 20,000 to 25,000 km due to frequent inter-emirate travel. The Japanese regional specification is highly regarded in the local used market for typically offering well-preserved interiors and high equipment levels. The black exterior is a primary resale driver in the region, holding its value significantly better than more niche colors.

STANDARD vs Lower Trims

Moving up to the CLS53 from the CLS450 replaces the standard turbocharged engine with an AMG-enhanced 3.0L inline-six featuring an electric auxiliary compressor for near-instant throttle response. This trim also standardizes the AMG Performance 4MATIC+ all-wheel-drive system and the AMG Ride Control+ air suspension, providing superior handling on fast-moving UAE highways. Inside, you gain the AMG-specific digital cockpit displays and a performance steering wheel that are not found on lower models.

CLS53 AMG vs Segment Rivals

The CLS53 leads rivals like the Audi A7 and BMW 8 Series Gran Coupe by offering a unique 'four-door coupe' silhouette that defined the segment, paired with the sophisticated EQ Boost hybrid system for smoother city driving. Its 435 hp output provides a more aggressive performance edge than the standard six-cylinder offerings from Audi, while the MBUX-adjacent dual 12.3-inch screens offer a more immersive tech experience. For GCC buyers, the Mercedes service network is arguably more extensive across the wider region than its European competitors.

Running Costs & Resale

The electrified inline-six is notably efficient for its performance class, achieving an observed 10.9 L/100km in mixed GCC driving conditions. Maintenance is managed by the ASSYST PLUS system, with major Service A and B intervals typically occurring every 15,000 to 20,000 km at authorized Mercedes-Benz centers found across the UAE and Saudi Arabia. While European luxury coupes experience higher initial depreciation than Japanese brands, the CLS53 maintains a dedicated enthusiast following in the GCC, helping it retain value better than non-AMG variants.

Performance & Capability

The headline figure is the 4.5-second 0–100 km/h sprint, enabled by a 435 hp engine and a 48V starter-generator that eliminates turbo lag. The fully variable 4MATIC+ all-wheel-drive system provides exceptional stability during sudden lane changes on high-speed highways or when encountering occasional rain-slicked roads. With five distinct drive modes, the car can transition from a quiet executive cruiser for the commute to a sharp sports tool for weekend drives to Jebel Jais.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is a highlight of the 2019 redesign, featuring 64-color ambient lighting and dual 12.3-inch high-resolution displays that remain visible even in the harsh midday GCC sun. The frameless windows are paired with high-quality acoustic insulation, ensuring a quiet interior during long-distance travel between emirates. Despite its coupe roofline, the 5-seat configuration provides enough practicality for family use, while the powerful multi-zone climate control is specifically engineered to handle peak summer temperatures.

Safety

Standard safety equipment includes Active Brake Assist, Attention Assist, and a sophisticated 360-degree camera system that is vital for maneuvering in tight urban parking. The AMG-specific braking system provides consistent stopping power even in high-heat conditions, while Pre-Safe sound technology helps protect passenger hearing during an impact. Adaptive cruise control makes long desert highway stretches significantly less fatiguing for the driver.

The bottom line

For the executive who demands AMG performance without sacrificing the sleek profile of a luxury coupe, this well-maintained Japanese-spec CLS53 AMG is a prime opportunity in a highly desirable color.
