Summary

This 2019 Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG Edition 1 represents the first year of the major W463A redesign, offering a far more refined driving experience than its predecessors. As an Edition 1, it features exclusive visual touches including red-rimmed 22-inch forged wheels and a bespoke Black and Red Pepper interior that is highly sought after in the secondary market. While the mileage reflects active use across the UAE, the G63 is legendary for its mechanical durability and continues to be one of the strongest value-retaining vehicles in the GCC. With the unmistakable growl of its side-exit exhausts and massive road presence, this remains the definitive luxury SUV for the region's highways and city streets. It serves as the perfect balance of iconic heritage and modern performance technology.

This Car vs Other 2019 G63 AMGs

With 181,000 km, this vehicle has been driven more than the typical GCC annual average, yet it presents as a complete package for those looking for the exclusive Edition 1 launch spec. Black is the most resilient resale color in the UAE market, ensuring this G63 stays in high demand. The higher mileage is offset by the model's proven V8 reliability and the significant premium that the Edition 1 trim commands over standard 2019 units.

EDITION 1 vs Lower Trims

The Edition 1 adds significant cosmetic and equipment upgrades over the standard G63, including the designo Night Black Magno finish and matte graphite stripes. Inside, it gains the exclusive Red Pepper Nappa leather with diamond stitching and carbon fiber trim with red pepper weave, features that are not available on standard trims. Functional upgrades include the 22-inch forged wheels and the inclusion of the AMG Night Package as standard.

G63 AMG vs Segment Rivals

The G63 stands alone against rivals like the Range Rover SVR and Lamborghini Urus by offering a literal body-on-frame construction, providing superior durability for GCC conditions. Its triple-locking differentials offer off-road capability that road-biased rivals cannot match, while the 100-litre fuel tank ensures better long-distance cruising range between emirates. The upright seating position provides a level of visibility and road presence that remains unmatched in the performance SUV segment.

Running Costs & Resale

The G63 AMG is famous for having one of the lowest depreciation rates in the GCC luxury market, often retaining over 70% of its value after three years. Real-world fuel consumption averages around 13.2 L/100km, though stop-start traffic in Dubai or Riyadh will see this rise. Mercedes-Benz maintains an extensive authorized service network across every GCC country, ensuring parts and expert technicians are always accessible. Service intervals are typically every 15,000 km, though many GCC owners opt for intermediate oil changes every 7,500 km due to the extreme summer heat.

Performance & Capability

The heart of this machine is a hand-built 4.0L V8 biturbo producing 585 hp and 850 Nm of torque, enabling a 0–100 km/h sprint of just 4.5 seconds. The 9G-TRONIC transmission and rear-biased 40:60 torque split provide surprisingly agile handling for a vehicle of its size on UAE highways. For weekend excursions, the low-range transfer case with a 2.93:1 reduction ratio allows it to navigate soft sand and steep dunes with ease. Three independent locking differentials ensure that even in the most challenging terrain, traction is never in doubt.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is a major leap forward from previous generations, featuring the dual 12.3-inch widescreen cockpit displays and a Burmester surround sound system. The Edition 1 trim includes ventilated front seats and multi-zone climate control, which are essential for maintaining comfort during the peak GCC summer months. Acoustic glass and improved insulation significantly reduce wind noise during high-speed highway cruising, while the red-accented ambient lighting creates a sophisticated atmosphere at night.

Safety

Safety is comprehensive with a 360-degree camera system, Active Brake Assist, and Lane Keeping Assist all standard on this trim. Adaptive Cruise Control (Distronic) is particularly valuable for the long, straight highway drives between Dubai and Abu Dhabi. The G63 also features high-performance AMG braking systems and multiple airbags, providing peace of mind whether navigating dense city traffic or high-speed desert roads.

The bottom line

For the buyer who wants the most iconic launch-spec G-Wagon, this Edition 1 offers unmatched prestige and a color combination that leads the GCC market in desirability.
