Summary

This 2025 Sportage EX represents a high-value entry into the compact SUV segment, balancing recent model-year technology with a practical 4-cylinder powertrain. As a 1-year-old vehicle, it has already cleared the steepest part of its initial depreciation curve while remaining under the protection of a robust regional service network. The Grey exterior is a stable choice for the GCC market, offering better heat management than darker tones and maintaining strong resale appeal across the Emirates. It stands out from rivals with its superior cargo capacity and a cabin design that feels significantly more modern than traditional segment leaders. For a buyer in the UAE or wider GCC, this is a sensible, tech-forward daily driver that handles city commutes and weekend highway trips with equal efficiency.

This Car vs Other 2025 Sportages

With 26,662 km on the odometer, this vehicle sits slightly above the regional average for a 1-year-old car, which typically clocks 20,000 to 25,000 km in the highway-heavy GCC environment. This usage suggests the car was primarily used for efficient long-distance commuting between emirates rather than stop-start city congestion, often better for engine longevity. The Grey finish is one of the top three resale colors in the local market, ensuring it remains highly liquid when you decide to upgrade.

EX vs Lower Trims

The EX trim provides a substantial leap in daily comfort compared to the base LX, most notably replacing the standard 8-inch unit with a massive 12.3-inch curved touchscreen display featuring integrated navigation. GCC buyers will particularly appreciate the addition of dual-zone automatic climate control and SynTex leatherette upholstery, which is far more durable and easier to clean after desert weekend trips than the base cloth. It also adds essential regional conveniences like a wireless phone charger and smart key with push-button start.

Sportage vs Segment Rivals

When compared to the Toyota RAV4 and Honda CR-V, this model leads with its exceptional 1,120-litre boot space, making it the more practical choice for families requiring high cargo volume. The interior tech suite in the EX trim feels a generation ahead of the base RAV4, offering a more digital-centric cockpit experience. While rivals focus on hybrid efficiency, the Sportage's conventional 4-cylinder setup ensures simpler long-term maintenance and wider parts availability in smaller GCC towns.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for this 4-cylinder petrol powertrain averages approximately 8.4 to 9.1 L/100km, performing best during steady 120 km/h highway cruises across the UAE. Kia maintains one of the most comprehensive authorized service footprints in the GCC, with major centers in every emirate and cross-border support in Saudi Arabia and Oman. Value retention for the Sportage remains strong at approximately 85% after the first year, outperforming many European rivals in the same price bracket.

Performance & Capability

The 187 hp 4-cylinder engine is tuned for smooth power delivery, providing confident overtaking capability on fast-moving multi-lane highways like the E11. With 180 mm of ground clearance, it easily manages gravel tracks and high speed bumps found in developing suburban areas, though it is optimized for road comfort rather than heavy dunes. The 8-speed automatic transmission is a highlight, offering crisper shifts and better response than the CVTs found in many Japanese competitors.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is engineered to combat extreme GCC summers with a high-output air conditioning system and dedicated rear vents to keep all five passengers cool. The EX trim's SynTex seats are specifically treated to resist heat absorption, while the cabin's acoustic insulation provides a quiet environment even during high-speed desert winds. Long-distance comfort is aided by 104 cm of rear legroom, allowing adults to sit comfortably behind a tall driver during cross-country trips.

Safety

This EX trim comes equipped with Kia's full ADAS suite, which is particularly beneficial for local driving conditions. It includes Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist for safer lane changes on busy highways and Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist that detects pedestrians and cyclists. Lane Keeping Assist and Driver Attention Warning come standard, providing an extra layer of safety for long, monotonous desert drives where fatigue can become a factor.

The bottom line

This 2025 Sportage EX is the ideal choice for a young family or professional looking for a near-new SUV that balances modern digital tech with the peace of mind provided by a massive regional service network.
