Summary

This Mitsubishi Montero Sport is a robust choice for GCC buyers seeking a capable family SUV that balances city manners with weekend adventure potential. As a high-trim GLS Premium Signature Edition, it offers enhanced safety tech and comfort features that stand out in the pre-facelift 2019 model year market. Its clean white exterior is the most preferred resale color across the UAE and Saudi Arabia, ensuring it holds value effectively. With a proven V6 powertrain and a seating capacity for seven, it remains a practical alternative to more expensive rivals without sacrificing off-road hardware. For a buyer looking for long-term reliability and a massive service network, this GCC-spec example hits the sweet spot of age and utility.

This Car vs Other 2019 Montero Sports

With mileage just under 90,000 km, this vehicle has been driven approximately 18,000 km per year, which is below the GCC average of 20,000–25,000 km. Its white exterior provides a significant advantage for local resale and helps reflect heat during peak summer months. Unlike many base GLX models on the market, this GLS Premium trim includes essential safety systems like blind-spot monitoring.

GLS PREMIUM SIGNATURE EDI vs Lower Trims

The GLS Premium Signature Edition adds a suite of high-value features over the standard GLS, including leather upholstery and a power-adjustable driver’s seat. It also introduces critical driver assistance systems such as Forward Collision Mitigation and Adaptive Cruise Control, which are rarely found on entry-level trims. The addition of a power sunroof and 18-inch alloy wheels gives it a more executive presence on the road.

Montero Sport vs Segment Rivals

While rivals like the Toyota Fortuner and Isuzu MU-X offer similar ladder-frame durability, the Montero Sport is often cited for its more compliant ride quality thanks to its sophisticated 8-speed automatic transmission. It leads the segment in value-for-money technology, offering a multi-around view monitor that simplifies parking in tight urban spaces. Its Super Select 4WD-II system is also more versatile than the basic part-time systems found in some competitors.

Running Costs & Resale

The 3.0L V6 delivers a combined fuel economy of approximately 10.5 L/100km, performing efficiently on long highway stretches between emirates. Mitsubishi's extensive authorized service network across the UAE, KSA, and Oman ensures parts are affordable and maintenance is straightforward. This model typically retains 60-65% of its value after three years in the GCC, making it one of the more stable investments in the midsize SUV category.

Performance & Capability

Equipped with 219 hp and 285 Nm of torque, the Montero Sport provides steady power for highway overtaking and desert trail excursions. The 218 mm ground clearance allows it to navigate gravel wadis and moderate sand dunes with confidence. Its 8-speed automatic transmission is specifically tuned to keep the V6 in its power band, ensuring smooth delivery whether towing or navigating stop-start city traffic.

Comfort & Cabin

The seven-seat cabin is designed with the GCC climate in mind, featuring powerful dual-zone automatic air conditioning and dedicated rear cooling vents for all three rows. Leather seating adds a premium touch and is easier to maintain in dusty conditions compared to cloth alternatives. The interior layout is flexible, with 60:40 split second-row seats that allow for easy access to the third row or expanded cargo space for family road trips.

Safety

This trim is equipped with a comprehensive safety suite including seven SRS airbags, providing protection for passengers in every row. Active safety is a priority, featuring Blind Spot Warning (BSW) and Ultrasonic Misacceleration Mitigation, which are particularly useful in fast-moving UAE highway traffic. Standard stability control and trailer stability assist ensure the vehicle remains composed when fully loaded or traversing uneven terrain.

The bottom line

For the family that needs a dependable seven-seater with genuine off-road credentials, this well-maintained Signature Edition offers a premium experience at a sensible price point.
