Toyota Hilux GLX 2019 MODEL GLX Facelift to Adventure 2025 Shape V4 2.7L Engine

Highlights

• 80-litre fuel tank capacity
• Extensive GCC authorised service network
• Strong value retention in the GCC used market

Summary

This Toyota Hilux is an exceptionally strong buy for the GCC market, combining extremely low mileage for its age with the region's most resilient powertrain. The 2.7L petrol engine is highly favored locally for its ability to handle extreme heat without the complexity of modern diesel systems, while the black exterior remains a top-tier choice for resale value in the UAE. As a GLX trim with four-wheel drive, it bridges the gap between a rugged work tool and a comfortable daily driver, offering significant interior upgrades over base commercial variants. The single most important consideration for any buyer in this region is long-term reliability and parts availability, both of which are unmatched by any other pickup in this segment. With just 36,500 km on the odometer, this vehicle offers a rare opportunity to own a nearly-new example of a legendary global workhorse.

This Car vs Other 2019 Hiluxs

With only 36,500 km, this Hilux has covered significantly less distance than the typical 100,000–125,000 km expected for a five-year-old utility vehicle in the GCC. The black exterior is a high-demand color in the local used market, which typically commands faster sales and better price stability than less conventional shades. Finding a GCC-spec 4x4 variant with such low usage is a distinct advantage for buyers looking for long-term mechanical longevity.

GLX vs Lower Trims

The GLX trim provides a substantial leap in comfort over the base DX variants, featuring upgraded fabric upholstery and power windows that make it suitable for family use rather than just commercial tasks. It adds premium exterior touches like chrome accents on the grille and mirrors, alongside a more refined infotainment setup that includes Bluetooth connectivity. These features are critical for maintaining passenger comfort during long drives between Emirates in the summer months.

Hilux vs Segment Rivals

Compared to rivals like the Mitsubishi L200 or Nissan Navara, the Hilux leads with a cooling system specifically engineered to maintain stable engine temperatures even when ambient heat exceeds 50°C. Its body-on-frame construction is renowned for being more resilient on corrugated desert tracks and rural roads than its competitors. Furthermore, the 2.7L petrol engine is strategically better for the GCC as it avoids the sensitive diesel particulate filters found in many European-spec alternatives.

Running Costs & Resale

The 2.7L engine is known for its mechanical simplicity, with real-world fuel consumption averaging approximately 10.8L/100km in mixed GCC driving. Toyota maintains the strongest value retention in the UAE, typically retaining up to 65% of its original showroom value after three years, which is roughly 5-10% higher than most American or European rivals. Authorized service centers are available in every major city across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Oman, ensuring minimal downtime for maintenance.

Performance & Capability

The 164 hp engine is paired with a selectable four-wheel-drive system, providing the necessary traction for weekend desert excursions or navigating soft sand. A generous 80-litre fuel tank ensures long-distance cruising range, which is ideal for the extensive highway networks connecting the major GCC hubs. While it serves as a robust cargo hauler, the automatic transmission makes it equally capable of handling the heavy stop-start traffic common in Dubai and Riyadh.

Comfort & Cabin

The five-seat cabin is designed for functionality and durability, featuring a powerful air conditioning system that is widely regarded as the gold standard for the Middle Eastern climate. Rear passengers benefit from a dedicated cabin layout that offers more legroom than many compact pickups, making it a viable secondary family vehicle. The interior materials are specifically chosen to resist wear and tear from sand and high UV exposure, preserving the cabin's condition over time.

Safety

This GCC-spec GLX comes standard with essential safety systems including Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) and Brake Assist (BA) to manage high-speed highway stops. It features front and knee airbags for the driver and passenger, providing critical protection in a segment where lower trims often exclude these features. The 4WD system further enhances active safety by providing superior stability on gravel surfaces and during heavy rain on polished asphalt.

The bottom line

For the GCC buyer who needs the ultimate balance of utility, low mileage, and the region's best resale value, this 4x4 Hilux is the most logical choice on the market today.
