Summary

This GCC-spec 2020 Durango GT offers a compelling blend of muscle-car styling and family utility, making it a standout choice for those needing seven seats without sacrificing road presence. Finished in white, a top-tier color for heat reflection and resale value in the GCC, this SUV is built to handle both the daily city commute and long cross-border highway hauls. While the mileage reflects active use typical of regional highway driving, the Durango's proven Pentastar V6 and robust platform are engineered for high-durability environments. For a buyer in the UAE or KSA, this GT trim balances premium features with lower maintenance costs compared to its V8 siblings.

This Car vs Other 2020 Durangos

With 218,000 km, this vehicle has been a consistent highway performer, which is common in the GCC where annual averages often reach 25,000 km. Its white exterior remains the most sought-after color in the local used market, ensuring faster liquidity and better value retention than darker shades. Being a GCC-spec model, it features the necessary cooling and filtration systems required to maintain performance in extreme summer temperatures.

GT vs Lower Trims

The GT trim offers a significant aesthetic and functional step up from the base SXT, adopting the more aggressive front fascia and 20-inch wheels usually reserved for the high-performance SRT models. Inside, it adds essential GCC comforts like a power liftgate and remote engine start, allowing you to cool the cabin before entering. The GT also standardizes the third-row seating, providing a full seven-passenger capacity that is only optional on some lower configurations.

Durango vs Segment Rivals

The Durango leads the mid-size SUV segment in towing capability, outclassing rivals like the Ford Explorer and Honda Pilot with a capacity of over 2,800 kg. Its rear-wheel-drive biased platform provides a more planted, car-like handling experience on highways compared to the softer, front-wheel-drive setups of many competitors. Furthermore, its massive 93-litre fuel tank offers superior range for long desert drives between major cities.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the 3.6L V6 typically averages around 11.5L/100km, offering a much more economical ownership experience in stop-start traffic than the 5.7L V8 variants. Dodge maintains a strong authorized service network across the UAE and KSA, ensuring parts availability and predictable maintenance costs. While American SUVs generally see higher depreciation than Japanese rivals, the Durango GT's specific styling and V6 efficiency help it retain value better than the niche SRT trims.

Performance & Capability

The 3.6L Pentastar V6 delivers a reliable 295 hp, providing smooth acceleration and confident overtaking power on fast-moving highways like E11. Paired with a refined 8-speed automatic transmission, it balances low-end torque for towing with high-speed efficiency. While primarily road-focused, its high ground clearance and robust suspension make it perfectly capable for family camping trips and gravel tracks across the Emirates.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is designed for long-distance family comfort, featuring a three-zone automatic climate control system that ensures rear passengers stay cool during peak summer heat. The GT's interior is highly versatile, with 60/40 'Fold & Tumble' second-row seats providing easy access to a third row that genuinely accommodates adults. Standard acoustic glass and thick insulation help keep the cabin quiet, isolating passengers from road and wind noise during high-speed travel.

Safety

Standard safety equipment on the GT includes a comprehensive seven-airbag system, including a driver’s knee airbag, and electronic roll mitigation. For highway safety, it features rear parking sensors with automatic stop and a rearview camera to assist in tight city parking. The Durango's heavy-duty steel cage construction provides a secure environment, while electronic stability control helps maintain traction on sandy or rain-slicked surfaces.

The bottom line

For a growing family looking for a rugged, GCC-proven SUV with premium looks and sensible running costs, this Durango GT is a practical and stylish investment.
