Summary

This 2020 GMC Sierra 1500 AT4 in Grey offers a unique combination of off-road prowess and the rare Regular Cab configuration, which is highly sought after by GCC enthusiasts for its agility and classic look. Equipped with the proven 5.3L V8 engine, it balances reliable power with standard GCC-spec cooling systems essential for the region's intense summers. The AT4 trim provides a factory-installed 2-inch lift and off-road hardware that makes it one of the most capable daily drivers in its segment. With its Grey exterior providing neutral resale strength in the UAE and Saudi markets, this truck stands out as a versatile workhorse that transitions perfectly from highway commuting to weekend desert excursions. It represents a solid buy for those prioritizing a durable, high-spec American pickup with established regional support.

This Car vs Other 2020 Sierras

With 140,000 km, this Sierra sits at the typical average for a GCC-based truck, reflecting the long-distance highway use common between major cities like Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Riyadh. While high-mileage examples are common, the AT4 trim in a Regular Cab configuration is significantly rarer in the used market than the standard Crew Cab models, often commanding better long-term attention from collectors. The Grey exterior is a strong choice for the region, offering excellent heat reflection and maintaining a professional look that hides dust well compared to darker colors.

AT4 vs Lower Trims

The AT4 trim is a significant jump over the SLE and Elevation levels, adding a factory-installed 2-inch suspension lift and Rancho monotube shocks for superior desert performance. Inside, GCC buyers benefit from the AT4-exclusive Kalahari accents and heated/ventilated front seats, a must-have feature for summer comfort. It also includes the Autotrac two-speed transfer case and a locking rear differential as standard, hardware that lower trims often lack or only offer as options.

Sierra vs Segment Rivals

The Sierra AT4 competes directly with the Chevrolet Silverado Trail Boss and the Ford F-150 Tremor. It distinguishes itself with the MultiPro Tailgate, which provides six unique functional positions for easier bed access during camping or work. Compared to rivals, the Sierra's interior is often cited for its straightforward, durable ergonomics and high-quality materials that withstand the intense GCC sun better over time.

Running Costs & Resale

The 5.3L V8 engine is engineered for longevity and typically requires service every 10,000 km at authorized centers like Al Ghandi or Bin Hamoodah in the UAE. Real-world fuel consumption averages around 8.5 km/L, with better efficiency on open GCC highways due to Dynamic Fuel Management. Resale value remains resilient across the GCC, typically retaining 60-65% of its value after three years, outperforming many European luxury SUVs in the same price bracket.

Performance & Capability

Lead performance comes from the 355 hp V8, which provides a 0-100 km/h sprint in approximately 7.2 seconds—impressive for a vehicle of this size. The 276 mm of ground clearance ensures it can handle most dune crossings and wadi tracks without modification. The All-Wheel Drive system is complemented by a dedicated Off-Road mode that recalibrates throttle and traction control specifically for soft sand and loose gravel.

Comfort & Cabin

Despite being a Regular Cab, the cabin offers a spacious three-seat layout with generous legroom for the driver and passengers. The powerful GCC-spec air conditioning is designed to reach cabin set-points rapidly, even when ambient temperatures exceed 45°C. Technology highlights include the 8-inch diagonal GMC Infotainment System with smartphone integration, ensuring connectivity during long cross-country drives.

Safety

Standard safety for this trim includes a suite of advanced features like StabiliTrak stability control with ProGrade Trailering technology to ensure stability while hauling heavy loads. For highway safety, it features Blind Spot Monitoring and Rear Cross Traffic Alert, which are vital for navigating the fast-moving multi-lane traffic typical of the E11 or Sheikh Zayed Road. The reinforced safety cage and multiple airbags provide peace of mind for both daily commutes and off-road adventures.

The bottom line

This Sierra AT4 is the ideal choice for the GCC buyer who wants a high-capability, factory-lifted pickup in the iconic Regular Cab style, offering a perfect blend of modern luxury and rugged durability.
