Summary

This 2020 Kia Soul LX is a standout choice for urban drivers in the UAE, combining a bold Red exterior with a practical, high-roof design that offers SUV-like visibility in a compact footprint. With 85,000 km, this vehicle has been driven well within the typical GCC annual average, ensuring it remains mechanically fresh for its next owner. The 2.0L engine provides a significant power bump over the base 1.6L units often found in the region, making highway merging on the E11 much smoother. As a modern hatchback with a strong reputation for reliability and parts availability, it represents a smart, high-value alternative to traditional subcompact sedans.

This Car vs Other 2020 Kia Souls

While many Soul models in the GCC used market come with the smaller 1.6L engine, this American-spec LX features the more robust 2.0L powertrain. Its mileage of 85,000 km is considered low to average for a four-year-old vehicle in the region, where long-distance commuting is the norm. The vibrant Red paint is a high-visibility choice that holds its appeal well in the secondary market.

LX vs Lower Trims

As the foundational trim for the 2.0L lineup, the LX strikes a balance between essential tech and mechanical simplicity. It includes a 7-inch touchscreen with standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a feature often missing from older or more basic regional variants. Unlike lower-displacement trims, this LX benefits from the improved torque of the larger engine, which is better suited for the high-speed highway traffic typical of the UAE and Saudi Arabia.

Soul vs Segment Rivals

The Kia Soul offers significantly more vertical headroom and cargo versatility than rivals like the Nissan Kicks or Ford EcoSport. Its boxy silhouette allows for a massive 1,758 litres of total storage with the rear seats folded, dwarfing the luggage capacity of most subcompact crossovers. Additionally, Kia’s 2.0L engine provides a more relaxed cruising experience during long drives between Emirates compared to the smaller-displacement engines found in competitors.

Running Costs & Resale

Kia enjoys one of the most robust service networks across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Oman, ensuring parts are affordable and expertise is widely available. Real-world fuel economy for the 2.0L engine averages around 7.9 L/100km, offering a budget-friendly commute even in stop-start Dubai traffic. While American-spec vehicles typically see a different depreciation curve than GCC-spec cars, the Soul's global reputation for durability helps it maintain a steady resale value compared to European rivals.

Performance & Capability

The 2.0L four-cylinder engine delivers 147 horsepower, providing punchy acceleration that is ideal for navigating multi-lane highways. The Intelligent Variable Transmission (IVT) is tuned for efficiency, keeping the engine in its optimal power band during climbs or overtaking maneuvers. With a tight 11-meter turning circle, it is exceptionally easy to park in crowded urban areas like Abu Dhabi’s city center.

Comfort & Cabin

Inside, the Soul features a high seating position that provides excellent outward visibility, a key advantage in heavy traffic. The cabin is surprisingly spacious, offering more than 100 cubic feet of passenger volume, ensuring adult passengers have ample legroom in the rear. Standard privacy glass and a powerful air conditioning system help maintain a cool environment during the peak GCC summer months.

Safety

Safety is a priority with six airbags and a high-strength steel structure that earned top marks in international testing. This trim includes a standard rear-view camera with dynamic guidelines, making reversing into tight spaces simple and safe. Electronic Stability Control and Hill-Start Assist come standard, providing extra confidence when navigating the gravel-strewn surfaces or steep ramps often encountered in regional parking structures.

The bottom line

For the buyer seeking a stylish, reliable, and incredibly spacious hatchback that punches above its weight in performance, this 2.0L Soul LX is a highly practical and well-maintained opportunity.
