Summary

This 2019 Chevrolet Trax LT is a standout choice for those seeking a practical, easy-to-drive crossover that has covered just 71,000 km in 7 years. In the GCC market, this mileage is notably below the typical average for a vehicle of this age, suggesting a life of light urban use rather than heavy highway commuting. The Grey exterior is a highly sensible choice for the region, offering excellent heat reflection and maintaining a strong resale profile. As an LT trim, it strikes the perfect balance between essential tech and value, offering a more refined cabin experience than the base model. For a buyer in the UAE or wider GCC, the Trax represents a low-fuss entry into SUV ownership with a proven mechanical platform.

This Car vs Other 2019 Traxs

With only 71,000 km on the odometer, this Trax has averaged roughly 10,000 km per year, which is significantly lower than the 20,000–25,000 km average typically seen in the GCC. This lower-than-average usage often translates to less wear on the suspension and cooling systems, both of which are critical in our local climate. The Grey finish is a high-demand color in the secondary market here, as it masks desert dust effectively and holds its value better than more niche colors.

LT vs Lower Trims

Steering away from the basic LS, this LT trim adds several features that GCC buyers value, including roof rails for extra utility and upgraded LED daytime running lights for better visibility on dusty highways. Inside, the LT provides a more comfortable environment with premium cloth upholstery and the addition of cruise control, which is essential for the long, straight drives between Emirates. It also features a 110-volt power outlet in the rear, a rare but useful addition for keeping devices charged during family road trips.

Trax vs Segment Rivals

When compared to rivals like the Ford EcoSport or Nissan Kicks, the Trax leads with a more robust turbocharged engine character that feels confident during highway overtaking. Its compact 11-meter turning circle makes it significantly easier to maneuver in tight Dubai or Riyadh parking structures than many larger crossovers. Additionally, the Trax offers a higher seating position that provides the 'command view' many GCC drivers prefer for navigating multi-lane traffic.

Running Costs & Resale

The 1.4L turbocharged engine is designed for efficiency, delivering a combined 8.4 L/100km, which helps manage fuel costs during stop-start city traffic. Chevrolet maintains a widespread authorized service network across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait, ensuring that parts and expert maintenance are never far away. While American-spec vehicles can see slightly faster depreciation than GCC-spec equivalents, the Trax's reputation for reliability and its low mileage help it retain a competitive value at the 3-to-5-year ownership mark.

Performance & Capability

The Trax is powered by a 1.4L turbocharged 4-cylinder engine producing 138 hp, which is perfectly suited for urban commuting and steady highway cruising. It reaches a manufacturer-rated top speed of 186 km/h, providing enough overhead for comfortable travel at the 120-140 km/h limits common on major GCC motorways. While it is a front-wheel-drive crossover intended for the road, its 157 mm ground clearance is ample for navigating speed bumps and unpaved sandy parking areas found throughout the region.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is designed for five passengers, featuring a high roofline that ensures plenty of headroom even for taller occupants. The air conditioning system is built to handle high ambient temperatures, and the LT trim's upgraded upholstery remains cooler to the touch than darker leather alternatives during the summer months. Practicality is a core strength, with 530 litres of boot space available with the seats up, expanding to a massive 1,371 litres for those weekend shopping hauls or moving larger items.

Safety

Safety is well-covered with a comprehensive suite of 10 standard airbags, providing peace of mind for family use. The 2019 Trax includes a rearview camera and StabiliTrak electronic stability control, which is particularly useful for maintaining traction on surfaces affected by sand or sudden rain. For highway safety, the LT trim's inclusion of cruise control and daytime running lights helps reduce driver fatigue and improves vehicle presence in fast-moving traffic.

The bottom line

This is an ideal opportunity for a first-time car buyer or a small family looking for a low-mileage, reliable crossover that is easy to park and inexpensive to run in the GCC. Its LT trim and well-maintained status make it a practical, value-driven alternative to buying new.
