Summary

This 6-year-old GLE350 offers a balanced entry into the modern Mercedes-Benz SUV lineup, featuring the refined W167 generation styling. While the mileage reflects a car that's been active on the road, its status as a 4MATIC all-wheel-drive model makes it a versatile choice for both city commuting and long-distance highway cruises between emirates. The Grey exterior is a highly practical choice for the region, maintaining a clean look against desert dust while supporting steady resale demand. As a premium German crossover, it stands out for its high-tech MBUX interface and superior cabin quietness compared to mainstream rivals. For a GCC buyer, the primary consideration is the USA spec, which offers high feature density at a more accessible entry point for this generation.

This Car vs Other 2020 GLE350s

With 157,000 km, this vehicle has covered approximately 26,000 km per year, which is slightly above the typical GCC average for luxury SUVs but consistent with long-range regional commuting. The Grey finish is one of the top three colors for resale in the local market, offering better heat reflection than black while being easier to maintain than white. In the UAE market, this mileage is often found on vehicles used for travel between major hubs like Dubai and Abu Dhabi, where highway cruising puts less stress on the drivetrain than stop-start city traffic.

USA SPEC vs Lower Trims

The USA spec often includes features that were optional in other markets, such as the 12.3-inch dual-screen MBUX cockpit and enhanced driver assistance packages. Compared to lower-tier base models, this trim typically adds keyless-go, blind-spot monitoring, and the 64-color ambient lighting system that GCC buyers value for nighttime cabin aesthetics. Additionally, the inclusion of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard ensures modern smartphone integration that older or base-spec imports may lack.

GLE350 vs Segment Rivals

The GLE350 leads rivals like the BMW X5 and Audi Q7 in terms of fuel tank capacity, with its 85-litre tank providing exceptional range for long highway drives through the desert. Its 4MATIC system is specifically tuned for on-road stability, offering a more composed ride on high-speed roads than some of its sportier competitors. The interior legroom in the second row is also a notable highlight, making it more comfortable for family use than the Lexus RX.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption averages around 10.5 L/100km on highways, though GCC city traffic can see this rise during peak summer months when the air conditioning system is under high load. Service intervals follow the Mercedes-Benz Service A/B schedule every 15,000 km, with a widespread network of authorized centers and independent specialists available across the UAE and Saudi Arabia. As an American spec vehicle, it typically carries a lower initial purchase price than GCC-spec equivalents, though buyers should ensure all regional radio and navigation updates are installed. Depreciation for this generation is stabilizing, making it a predictable asset for the next 2-3 years.

Performance & Capability

The 2.0L turbocharged engine delivers 255 hp, allowing for a 0–100 km/h sprint in 7.1 seconds, which provides plenty of punch for overtaking on fast-moving UAE highways. The 4MATIC all-wheel-drive system ensures maximum grip during the occasional rainstorm or when navigating sandy service roads. With a 9-speed automatic transmission, the GLE350 remains in its most efficient power band at high speeds, providing a quiet and effortless cruising experience.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is designed to shield occupants from the harsh GCC climate, featuring a powerful dual-zone climate control system and high-quality insulation that minimizes road noise. The 5-seat layout provides ample shoulder room and a 630-litre boot that easily accommodates golf clubs or family luggage for weekend stays. While this specific unit features the standard seating, the premium materials and MBUX voice control create a modern, luxurious environment for every passenger.

Safety

Standard safety equipment on this trim includes active brake assist, blind-spot monitoring, and the Pre-Safe system, which prepares the cabin if a collision is detected. The attention assist monitor is particularly useful for long, monotonous drives across the desert, alerting the driver to signs of fatigue. These active systems, combined with a robust airbag suite, provide top-tier protection that matches or exceeds many rivals in the mid-size luxury segment.

The bottom line

For the buyer seeking the prestige and tech of the newest GLE generation at a significantly lower price point, this 4MATIC SUV is a practical and stylish choice for regional life.
