Summary

This 2020 GLS450 4MATIC represents the current generation of Mercedes flagship SUV, offering a significant tech leap with the MBUX digital cockpit. With just 35,422 km on the odometer, this vehicle has been driven well below the typical GCC annual average for its age, making it a standout opportunity for those seeking a near-new experience. The Grey exterior is a highly resilient and popular resale choice in the region, effectively masking desert dust while maintaining a premium aesthetic. As a GCC-spec model, it features the enhanced cooling systems required for peak summer performance and remains fully supported by the extensive Mercedes-Benz authorized service network. This seven-seater perfectly bridges the gap between executive refinement and high-capacity family logistics.

This Car vs Other 2020 GLS450s

At six years old, this vehicle's mileage is exceptionally low for the GCC market, where long-distance commutes often push annual figures past 25,000 km. Most comparable 2020 models currently listed have significantly higher usage, giving this specific unit a distinct mechanical advantage. The Grey finish is one of the top three resale colors in the UAE, ensuring it holds value better than more niche exterior palettes.

4MATIC vs Lower Trims

The GLS450 4MATIC sits at the start of the flagship range but includes the high-resolution MBUX dual-widescreen cockpit as standard. Compared to lower-tier SUV models like the GLE, this trim provides a genuinely adult-usable third row and standard AIRMATIC air suspension for superior ride quality. It also features a 48-volt mild-hybrid system that adds an extra 21 hp and 250 Nm of torque via EQ Boost, a feature not found on older-generation competitors.

GLS450 vs Segment Rivals

The GLS450 is often cross-shopped with the BMW X7 and Audi Q7. It leads in ride comfort thanks to its softer suspension tuning, making it better suited for long cross-border drives between emirates. With a 90-litre fuel tank, the GLS offers a substantial highway range that outclasses many smaller-tanked rivals, reducing the frequency of stops on long GCC desert highways.

Running Costs & Resale

The 3.0L inline-six delivers approximately 9.2 L/100km combined, which is remarkably efficient for a full-sized 7-seater in GCC stop-start traffic. Mercedes-Benz maintains a massive authorized service network across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait, ensuring parts and expert technicians are always accessible. While luxury SUVs typically see 12-15% annual depreciation, the GLS series remains a top performer for value retention in the local market due to its high demand as a status-symbol family car.

Performance & Capability

Despite its size, the GLS450 hits 100 km/h in just 6.2 seconds, providing effortless overtaking power on fast-moving highways like the E11. The standard 4MATIC all-wheel-drive system and adjustable ground clearance make it highly capable for weekend trips to sandy desert camp sites or gravel wadis. The 9G-TRONIC transmission keeps revs low at high cruising speeds, ensuring a whisper-quiet cabin during long-distance travel.

Comfort & Cabin

This 7-seater configuration is designed for the regional climate, featuring powerful multi-zone climate control with dedicated vents for all three rows. The MBUX system supports natural language voice commands, allowing you to adjust the temperature or navigation without taking your eyes off the road. The interior is insulated with acoustic glass, significantly reducing the external heat and wind noise common during GCC summers.

Safety

Safety is managed by a full ADAS suite including Active Brake Assist, Blind Spot Assist, and a 360-degree surround-view camera which is essential for parking a vehicle of this scale in tight city malls. It also features Crosswind Assist, a vital safety tool for maintaining stability during the high-speed gusts frequently encountered on open desert roads.

The bottom line

For the GCC buyer who needs a low-mileage, high-prestige 7-seater that is ready for both school runs and cross-country road trips, this GCC-spec GLS450 is a top-tier choice.
