Summary

This 2020 Mitsubishi Pajero in the flagship GLS Signature Edition represents a definitive choice for GCC buyers seeking a balance of luxury and legendary off-road reliability. Finished in high-demand black, it offers superior resale potential compared to niche colors, while the 3.8-liter V6 provides the necessary power for confident highway overtaking and desert excursions. The GCC specification ensures the cooling system and air conditioning are engineered to handle extreme summer temperatures without compromise. With its 7-seat configuration and robust four-wheel-drive system, it remains a versatile workhorse for family life in the Emirates.

This Car vs Other 2020 Pajeros

With approximately 90,000 km, this vehicle sits at a healthy average for a 2020 model in the GCC, where annual driving often hits 25,000 km. The black exterior is a significant advantage, as it is one of the most sought-after colors for resale in the local market. Choosing the 3.8L variant over the 3.0L or 3.5L models ensures you have the torque needed to move this full-size SUV efficiently across soft sand and long highway stretches.

GLS H/L SIGNATURE EDI vs Lower Trims

The Signature Edition is the ultimate expression of the Pajero, adding premium touches like a chrome-accented exterior package and exclusive hood ornament. Inside, this trim elevates the experience with leather-trimmed power-adjustable seats and a factory-fitted cool box, a essential for long summer drives. It also features an upgraded infotainment suite with smartphone integration that is often missing from base GLS variants.

Pajero vs Segment Rivals

Compared to the Toyota Prado or Nissan Pathfinder, the Pajero offers a more traditional and rugged mechanical feel thanks to its Super Select II 4WD system. It leads many rivals in pure off-road hardware, featuring a dedicated low-range transfer case and a rear differential lock as standard. For GCC families, the Pajero's powerful dual-zone climate control system is frequently cited as one of the most effective in the segment.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the 3.8L V6 typically ranges between 13-18L/100km, performing best during steady highway cruising between Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Maintenance is simplified by one of the most extensive authorized service networks in the GCC, with parts widely available and affordable. Historically, the Pajero holds its value exceptionally well, with Japanese-built SUVs in this trim typically retaining about 50-60% of their value after five years.

Performance & Capability

The 3.8-liter MIVEC engine delivers 243 hp and 327 Nm of torque, providing a substantial power boost over the entry-level V6 models. Its Super Select II 4WD system allows you to shift between 2WD and 4WD at speeds up to 100 km/h, making it highly adaptable for varying road conditions. With 235mm of ground clearance and a selectable rear diff-lock, it is fully equipped for serious weekend dune bashing or rocky mountain trails.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is designed for seven passengers across three rows, with a third row that can be completely stowed under the floor for maximum cargo space. High-intensity rear AC vents ensure that all passengers stay cool even when external temperatures exceed 45°C. Leather-wrapped touchpoints and the wood-grain trim of the Signature Edition provide a more executive feel during daily commutes.

Safety

Standard safety features on this trim include a comprehensive multi-airbag system, Active Stability and Traction Control (ASTC), and an Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution. For modern convenience, it includes a rearview camera and rear parking sensors to aid in tight city parking. These systems are specifically calibrated to maintain vehicle stability on the loose gravel and sand surfaces common across the region.

The bottom line

This Pajero is the perfect match for a family that needs a dependable, high-spec daily driver that can transition seamlessly into a weekend desert explorer. With the Signature Edition's premium features and the 3.8L engine's power, this GCC-spec listing offers long-term peace of mind and strong value retention.
