Summary

This 2021 Audi A5 40 TFSI S-Line offers a perfect balance for the GCC buyer seeking European sophistication without the extreme running costs of a performance variant. The grey exterior is a resilient choice for the local market, maintaining its aesthetic appeal and resale value against the harsh regional sun better than darker shades. As an S-Line trim, it provides the aggressive styling cues of the S5 while remaining efficient enough for the daily Dubai-Abu Dhabi commute. The car represents a low-mileage opportunity that has bypassed the steepest part of the depreciation curve typical for German coupes in this region. Given the well-maintained road infrastructure in the UAE, this rear-wheel-drive coupe offers a precise and engaging driving experience that few rivals can match.

This Car vs Other 2021 A5s

With just over 54,000 km, this A5 has been driven significantly less than the typical 25,000 km annual average for the GCC, making it a low-mileage standout. The Grey exterior is one of the most sought-after colors for resale in the UAE, performing nearly as well as white or silver. It remains under the typical 5-year ownership window where Audi’s mechanical refinement is at its peak.

40 TFSI S-LINE vs Lower Trims

The 40 TFSI S-Line adds critical visual and tech upgrades over the base Premium trim, including the 12.3-inch Virtual Cockpit and 10.1-inch MMI touch display. The S-Line package introduces 19-inch wheels, a sportier body kit, and brushed aluminum interior inlays that GCC buyers look for. These upgrades significantly improve the car's desirability and value retention in the local used market compared to the standard 35 TFSI.

A5 vs Segment Rivals

The Audi A5 leads the BMW 4 Series and Mercedes-Benz C-Class Coupe in terms of interior ergonomics and digital integration. Its 450-litre boot is generous for a coupe, offering more practical daily utility for shopping trips or weekend getaways to Ras Al Khaimah. The Audi MMI system is also widely considered more intuitive for navigating through fast-moving Dubai traffic than older competitor interfaces.

Running Costs & Resale

The 2.0L turbocharged engine is highly efficient for the GCC, averaging roughly 6.4L/100km on combined cycles, which is excellent for long-distance cruising. Audi’s authorized service network is extensive across the UAE, ensuring parts and maintenance are easily accessible in every Emirate. While European luxury coupes generally see a 12-15% annual depreciation, the S-Line trim and GCC specification help this model hold value better than imported American-spec alternatives.

Performance & Capability

This A5 delivers a top speed of 241 km/h, ensuring it feels effortless and stable at maximum UAE highway speeds. The 7-speed S-tronic dual-clutch transmission provides near-instant shifts, which is particularly useful for overtaking during the daily commute. With 320 Nm of torque available from low RPMs, the car feels responsive in city traffic despite its focus on efficiency.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is tailored for the GCC climate with a powerful three-zone climate control system that ensures rapid cooling even in peak summer heat. Acoustic glass and high-grade insulation keep the interior quiet, isolating passengers from road noise on long desert highway drives. The leather sports seats provide excellent support for both short city bursts and cross-border road trips.

Safety

This trim includes Audi’s full suite of safety technology, featuring Pre-Sense Basic and City to assist in urban stop-start traffic. Standard features like blind-spot monitoring and lane departure warnings are essential for safety on high-speed, multi-lane highways like Sheikh Zayed Road. The car also features six airbags and advanced stability control to manage varied road surfaces across the region.

The bottom line

This GCC-spec S-Line coupe is the ideal choice for a professional looking for a stylish, low-mileage daily driver that balances prestige with sensible running costs. It offers the right color and the right trim to ensure strong resale value when it’s time to upgrade.
