Summary

This 2021 BMW 740Li M SPORT PACK represents the sweet spot of the pre-owned executive sedan market in the GCC, offering a perfect balance of low mileage and the highly desirable M Sport styling. With under 70,000 km on the odometer, this vehicle has been driven significantly less than the regional average for its age, ensuring plenty of life remains in its refined 6-cylinder powertrain. The exterior grey finish is a savvy choice for the UAE and wider GCC, as it masks the fine desert dust remarkably well while maintaining a high resale value compared to more niche colors. In a segment where presence is everything, the M Sport visual upgrades elevate this sedan above standard 7 Series models, providing a more assertive stance that resonates with local tastes. For a GCC buyer, this specific listing is a rare find that combines the long-wheelbase comfort essential for family or executive use with the mechanical reliability associated with the B58 engine. It stands out from rivals by offering a more engaging driving experience without sacrificing the plush ride quality needed for the long highway stretches between Abu Dhabi and Dubai.

This Car vs Other 2021 740Lis

When looking at the 2021 model year, this 740Li stands out due to its mileage of 69,000 km, which is notably lower than the GCC typical usage of approximately 75,000 to 80,000 km for a three-year-old vehicle. This lower-than-average usage means the interior leather and touchpoints show significantly less wear, preserving that premium cabin feel that is so vital in a luxury flagship. The grey exterior is one of the most practical and sought-after shades in the UAE used car market, consistently holding a value premium over brighter or non-standard colors. Unlike many 2021 models that may have been imported from outside the region, this is a genuine GCC spec vehicle, which is a major advantage for local buyers. GCC spec cars are specifically engineered with cooling systems designed to handle the 45°C+ summer heat, ensuring the air conditioning and engine temperatures remain stable even in peak July traffic. Choosing this specific unit ensures you are getting a vehicle that has spent its entire life in a climate-controlled environment with a service history that local BMW centers will recognize and support.

M SPORT PACK vs Lower Trims

Choosing the M SPORT PACK over the standard Excellence or base trims provides a transformative upgrade to both the aesthetics and the driving dynamics of the 740Li. Externally, the M Sport package adds more aggressive front and rear bumpers, high-gloss Shadowline trim, and unique alloy wheels that give the car a much more commanding presence on the road. Inside, you receive the M Sport steering wheel and specialized trim finishers that create a more driver-centric cockpit environment than the standard wood-heavy base models. Beyond the visuals, this trim often includes upgraded braking components and a more sport-tuned air suspension setting that improves high-speed stability on the E11 highway. GCC buyers typically prioritize the M Sport trim because it historically retains a higher percentage of its value, as the sporty appearance is much more in demand in the secondary market. You also benefit from the higher-tier Harman Kardon audio system and enhanced seat adjustments that are often optional on lower configurations.

740Li vs Segment Rivals

The BMW 740Li competes directly with the Mercedes-Benz S-Class and the Audi A8, but it carves out its own niche by being the 'driver's choice' in the executive class. While the S-Class focuses heavily on soft isolation, the 740Li offers a more communicative steering feel and a more responsive 3.0L turbocharged engine that feels more agile during city maneuvers in Riyadh or Dubai. The long-wheelbase 'Li' designation ensures that rear legroom is superior to many standard-wheelbase rivals, making it ideal for those who occasionally use a driver but still enjoy taking the wheel themselves. Its iDrive infotainment system is widely regarded as more intuitive than the touch-heavy interfaces found in Audi or Lexus competitors, allowing for easier adjustments while driving at highway speeds. Additionally, the BMW's air conditioning system is renowned in the region for its rapid pull-down capacity, cooling the large cabin significantly faster than some European rivals after being parked in the sun. The 340 hp 6-cylinder engine also provides a better balance of fuel efficiency and performance than the thirsty V8 engines found in some American luxury alternatives.

Running Costs & Resale

Owning a 740Li in the GCC is a relatively predictable experience thanks to the widespread availability of authorized BMW service centers in every major city across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait. The 3.0L inline-six engine is one of BMW's most reliable modern powerplants, with service intervals typically occurring every 12,000 to 15,000 km, though more frequent oil changes are recommended in the extreme heat. Real-world fuel consumption is surprisingly efficient for a car of this size, achieving roughly 8.5 to 9.5 L/100km on long highway runs between emirates. In heavy stop-start city traffic, expect this to rise to around 12 L/100km, but the inclusion of an efficient ECO PRO mode helps manage fuel spend. Historically, the 7 Series with GCC specs depreciates at a rate of approximately 15% annually, which is standard for the European luxury sedan segment. However, because this is the M SPORT PACK in a popular color, its value retention at the 5-year mark is expected to outperform base-trim equivalents by a noticeable margin. Parts availability is excellent across the region, ensuring that even after the warranty period, maintaining the vehicle remains straightforward.

Performance & Capability

Under the hood lies the award-winning B58 3.0L turbocharged 6-cylinder engine producing 340 hp and 450 Nm of torque, which provides effortless acceleration for a car of this stature. It can reach 100 km/h in just 5.6 seconds, a figure that ensures you can confidently merge into fast-moving highway traffic or perform overtakes with ease. The 8-speed Steptronic transmission is exceptionally smooth, virtually disappearing into the background during relaxed commutes while sharpening up significantly in Sport mode. The rear-wheel-drive configuration provides a classic luxury car feel with a tighter turning circle than many all-wheel-drive competitors, which is surprisingly helpful in tight mall parking structures. Standard air suspension on both axles allows the car to glide over road imperfections, but it can also be raised at the touch of a button to navigate steeper driveway inclines or speed bumps. The 740Li is also a master of high-speed cruising, with a top speed electronically limited to 250 km/h and a chassis that feels incredibly planted even in the presence of strong desert crosswinds.

Comfort & Cabin

The interior of the 740Li is a sanctuary of high-quality materials and advanced technology designed to withstand the rigors of the GCC climate. Featuring 5 seats, the rear cabin is exceptionally spacious, offering enough legroom for even the tallest passengers to stretch out comfortably during long journeys to Al Ain or Ras Al Khafji. The multi-zone climate control system is exceptionally powerful, with dedicated vents for rear passengers and a solar-reflective windshield that helps keep the cabin cool while parked. The M Sport seats provide excellent lateral support while remaining soft enough for hours of continuous driving, and they typically feature heating and ventilation to keep occupants comfortable year-round. Ambient lighting creates a sophisticated atmosphere at night, while the Harman Kardon surround sound system provides an immersive audio experience that masks external road noise effectively. Acoustic glazing on the side windows further enhances the silence, making the cabin one of the quietest in its class, even when traveling at 140 km/h on the highway.

Safety

Safety in the 740Li is handled by a comprehensive suite of active and passive systems that make it one of the safest vehicles on GCC roads. It carries a 5-star safety rating, backed by a rigid carbon-core chassis construction that provides exceptional occupant protection while reducing overall weight. Standard features include Lane Departure Warning, Blind Spot Detection, and Frontal Collision Warning with City Collision Mitigation, which are vital for navigating the busy, multi-lane highways of the region. The Adaptive LED headlights with high-beam assistant are particularly useful for night driving on unlit desert roads, providing maximum visibility without blinding oncoming traffic. Parking is made simple by a 360-degree camera system and Park Distance Control, which are essential for a car of this length. Additionally, the Active Protection system automatically prepares the cabin by tensioning belts and closing windows if it senses an imminent collision, providing an extra layer of security for you and your family.

The bottom line

This 2021 BMW 740Li M SPORT PACK is the ideal choice for a professional or family looking for a prestigious flagship that has already navigated its steepest depreciation curve while remaining in excellent, low-mileage condition. Its GCC-specific configuration and popular M Sport trim make it a safe, high-value investment that is perfectly suited for the demands of UAE roads.
